POSITION SUMMARYCVS Health is seeking a Senior Mainframe DB2 Database Administrator (DBA) to support, optimize, and automate enterprise Db2 for z/OS and IDMS database environments. The Senior Mainframe DB2 Database Administrator (DBA) will be responsible for database administration, performance tuning, backup and recovery, disaster recovery readiness, application release support, and database automation initiatives across critical healthcare platforms. The Senior Mainframe DB2 Database Administrator (DBA) will work closely with application development, infrastructure, and support teams to improve database performance, implement structural database changes, support Db2 upgrades and migrations, and ensure high availability of mission-critical systems. The ideal Senior Mainframe DB2 Database Administrator (DBA) brings deep expertise in Db2 z/OS administration, SQL performance tuning, JCL, database utilities, and production support within large-scale mainframe environments. As a Senior Mainframe DB2 Database Administrator (DBA), you will play a key role in maintaining database reliability, scalability, security, and operational excellence while participating in audit support, disaster recovery activities, and a 24x7 on-call rotation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Administer and support enterprise Db2 z/OS and IDMS databases across production and non-production environments, including structural changes, application releases, and database migrations.
- Optimize database performance through SQL tuning, access path analysis, index recommendations, RUNSTATS, REORG, and resource utilization analysis.
- Develop and implement automation solutions to improve database administration processes, operational efficiency, and legacy support activities.
- Manage database backup, recovery, replication, and disaster recovery processes, including DR documentation and testing activities.
- Support Db2 Function Level upgrades, version migrations, RSU maintenance, and database utility execution.
- Respond to database support requests, change requests, audit inquiries, and production incidents while participating in a 24x7 on-call rotation.
- Provide technical consultation, knowledge transfer, and support to development, infrastructure, and application teams.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS- 5+ years of hands-on experience as a Db2 for z/OS Database Administrator, including database design, maintenance, performance tuning, backup/recovery, and production support.
- 3+ years of experience with Db2 Administration Tools, Query Monitor, OMEGAMON, and Db2 utilities including LOAD, UNLOAD, RUNSTATS, REORG, COPY, RECOVER, and SPUFI.
- 3+ years of advanced SQL performance tuning, access path analysis, query optimization, and index management in Db2 z/OS environments.
- 3+ years of experience with JCL development, DBA job scheduling, and 24x7 production on-call support in large-scale mainframe environments.
- 1+ year of experience designing, implementing, or supporting database replication solutions in complex enterprise computing environments.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS- IDMS Database Administration knowledge
- Db2 Distributed (DDF) support
- z/OS Db2 maintenance and upgrade support
- Stored procedure development/support experience
- REXX scripting experience
EDUCATIONBachelor's degree from accredited university or equivalent work experience (HS diploma + 4 years relevant experience).

Pay RangeThe typical pay range for this role is:
$83,430.00 - $222,480.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
