Senior-level Structural Engineer to work for our Safety practice in our
Dayton, Ohio office. The Senior-level Structural Engineer will analyze, design, plan, and fabricate structural components and systems as they lead fall protection projects for LJB clients.
Salary Range: $90,000 - $130,000 based upon experience, certifications, and regional market standards.

2026 Benefits SummarySENIOR-LEVEL STRUCTURAL ENGINEER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:- Manages internal teams to complete projects by creating plans, setting priorities, and deadlines.
- Performs QC reviews and oversight of project calculations and deliverables.
- Analysis of building components used to support fall protection systems, including structural steel framing, cold-formed steel framing, and cast-in-place concrete.
- Develop a layout of fall protection systems to address customer needs and coordinate with the existing structure.
- Assists with the preparation of construction documents such as those needed for the installation of fall protection systems.
- Perform tasks within Revit and other CAD to execute assigned engineering tasks.
- Prepares calculations detailing engineering design.
- May coordinate projects by communicating with clients regarding project issues and attending meetings.
- Responsible for maintaining technical knowledge through completion of various training initiatives: attending seminars, reviewing professional publications, and attending in-house systems/management training.
Additional Responsibilities and Duties:- Willingness to travel (overnight stays based on supported projects) to various US-based locations.
- Ability to analyze situations and identify ways to improve efficiency.
- Ability to react quickly and calmly to high-pressure situations.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in team settings.
- ERP experience required, Deltek Vantagepoint preferred.
- Understanding/Training in OSHA/ANSI fall protection standards.
- Ability to pass background checks, drug tests, and MVR checks.
- Other duties as assigned.
SENIOR-LEVEL STRUCTURAL ENGINEER ESSENTIAL CREDENTIALS:Required Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in civil, architectural, or mechanical engineering with structural emphasis required (master's degree preferred).
- 8+ years' engineering experience, possessing knowledge and experience in the design of structural engineering projects, with a preference for fall protection.
- Professional Engineer (PE).
- CAD experience (Revit and Bluebeam preferred) RAM, STRAP or other structural analysis software experience.
Preferred Qualifications:- Structural Engineer (SE).
- Knowledgeable of industry codes and standards such as OSHA 1926 and ANSI Z359.
Core Skills:- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Physical Requirements:- Must be able to traverse worksite in different types of weather and bend, climb, stretch, reach, and lean to perform duties.
- Must meet the weight capacity of design perimeters of fall protection systems (between 130 to 310 lbs.).
- Understands the exposure to characteristic construction site dangers.
- Must be able to lift to 50 pounds at a time.

You will work alongside experienced structural engineering professionals, develop technical expertise through real project exposure, and build a strong foundation for long-term growth within LJB's Safety team.
