Senior Lead Security Technician

Job Summary

The Senior Lead Security Technician is responsible for leading the installation, programming, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of advanced electronic security systems. This role provides field leadership for technicians and subcontractors, ensures projects are completed safely and on schedule, and serves as the primary technical resource for security system deployments. The Senior Lead Security Technician must possess strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to maintain high-quality workmanship while delivering exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead installation teams on security system projects from start to finish.
  • Install, program, test, commission, and troubleshoot security systems.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and system schematics.
  • Coordinate daily activities of technicians, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
  • Ensure adherence to company safety policies and OSHA requirements.
  • Conduct quality control inspections to ensure work meets project specifications and industry standards.
  • Manage project schedules, material requirements, and labor resources.
  • Configure and support network-connected security devices and systems.
  • Train, mentor, and develop junior technicians and crew leads.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, as-builts, service reports, and daily progress updates.
  • Participate in customer meetings and provide technical support as needed.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues in the field with minimal supervision.
  • Assist project managers with project planning, forecasting, and closeout activities.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree in Electronics, Telecommunications, IT, or related field preferred.
  • 7+ years of security systems installation and service experience.
  • 2+ years of experience supervising technicians or leading project teams.
  • Strong knowledge of access control, CCTV, intrusion detection, and network infrastructure.
  • Ability to read blueprints, riser diagrams, and wiring schematics.
  • Proficiency using testing equipment and industry tools.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to travel as required.

Certifications Preferred
  • Manufacturer Certifications (LenelS2, Genetec, Avigilon, Milestone, CCURE)
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30
  • BICSI Technician or Installer
  • Fiber Optic Association (FOA) Certification
  • Security Industry Licensing as required by state regulations
  • CPR/First Aid Certification

  • Ability to learn Company and customer project management systems.
  • Able to secure and maintain a Company-sponsored American Express card.
  • Able to use the following trade tools: punch tool with 110 block and 66 block blade, 6/8 position combo crimp tool, Krone/3M/BIX, butt set, volt-ohmmeter, 4-pair continuity tester, and 5-gang punch tool.

Education, Certification, License, and Skill Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED equivalency required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience in customer interface, acting as a liaison between the customer and the Company.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of supervisory or managerial experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in telecommunications or a related technical or construction field.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and MS Project).
  • Meets Company minimum driving standards.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated, verifiable ability to define a project, create a project scope of work, develop detailed associated tasks, and manage these through to final completion and customer turnover.
