About The Position

The Senior Product Owner has a key role in Agile development, responsible for maximizing the value of a product. The Senior Product Owner acts as the voice of the customer and stakeholders, translating their needs and vision into actionable tasks for the development team. This position is responsible for executing the product vision, managing the product backlog, and collaborating with various teams to ensure the product meets customer needs and business goals.

Key responsibilities include:

Connect with the Customer
  • Conduct research and connect directly with internal and external customers to gain a comprehensive understanding of their needs
  • Leverage research, tools and techniques to build product solutions and features that enhance experiences for customers and co-workers
  • Develop and maintain high-trust relationships with key stakeholders


Product Vision & Roadmap
  • Partner with Product Managers to develop business cases and product roadmaps that accurately represent the investment and benefits of the products or features to be developed or enhanced


Manage & Prioritize Backlog
  • Capture and translate project requirements into user stories ensuring they are well-formed, aligned with product strategy, and in compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Accept stories and ensure elements such as quality and design have been effectively incorporated
  • Foster collaboration with other Product Owners, Architects, Technical Leads and Managers across the agile and dependent teams to ensure successful delivery in accordance with project timelines and budget


Deliver Value
  • Define, track, and communicate key product metrics to stakeholders, ensuring data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement across the product lifecycle
  • Set quality assurance standards for agile teams, ensure test results adhere to standards and accept product deliverables on behalf of the customer
  • Balance short-term and long-term goals, make strategic decisions that will benefit the product and drive business value


Receiving and Applying Feedback
  • Champion products and features, present during demonstration and retrospective meetings, and other opportunities to provide updates and sustain alignment with stakeholders.
  • Serve as primary liaison and contact for communication.


Qualifications - Senior Product Owner
  • Bachelor's degree required, master's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience with project/process improvement work required
  • 2+ years full-time Product Owner or similar agile team experience required
  • SAFe Product Owner / Product Manager Certification (POPM), Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), Professional Scrum Product Owner (PSPO), or other leading Product Owner certification (within 12 months).


Qualifications - Lead Product Owner
  • Bachelor's degree required, master's degree preferred
  • 7+ years project/process improvement work required
  • 4+ years full-time Product Owner experience required
  • SAFe Product Owner / Product Manager Certification (POPM), Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), Professional Scrum Product Owner (PSPO), or other leading Product Owner certification (within 12 months) required

Compensation Range:
$88,500.00 - $172,200.00

* This pay range encompasses multiple levels of the role. Career level and compensation depends upon applicant's credentials.

At Ameren, base salary is one component of a competitive compensation package for employees. Our pay ranges are broad to allow for movement within our organization and to accommodate different skill sets and levels of expertise. We take into consideration a variety of factors including, but not limited to, skills, abilities, experience, education, credentials, and internal equity when determining the base salary offered. Roles are eligible for additional rewards including annual incentive payments based on individual and company performance.
