Senior/Lead Operations Turnaround Coordinator

Job Summary

The Marathon Martinez Renewable Facility located in Martinez, California is seeking an experienced Senior/Lead Operations Turnaround Coordinator to ensure site compliance with the operations turnaround planning process across all area teams.

The available onsite schedule for the position is Monday-Thursday - 10 hours days, after hours calls are required and support of TAR and outages. Core Business Hours: 6 AM - 4 PM.

This could be a Grade 12 - Senior Level or a Grade 13 - Lead Level This position belongs to a family of jobs with increasing responsibility, competency and skill level. Actual position title and pay grade will be based on the selected candidate's experience and qualifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensures site compliance with the operations turnaround planning process across all area teams.
  • Coordinates planning and execution activities between Operations, Maintenance, Products Control, Technical Service and Turnaround (TAR) groups, ensuring adherence to the Operations Plan of the Plan (POP) milestones.
  • Represents site on the Operations TAR Planning Network and shares best practices in Operations TAR planning across the enterprise.
  • Trains and mentors planners throughout the planning and execution process.
  • Develops, maintains, and updates the sites' POP.
  • Coordinates Critical Path Value Optimization training and workshops for Critical Path units.
  • Coordinates and leads the development of the overall Refinery Sequence Plan with Operations and Products Control groups.
  • Establishes contractor requirements for turnaround shutdown and startup activities (decontamination, supplemental utilities, etc.) and participates in pre-turnaround meetings to review scope and schedule with contractors.
  • Confirms that individual unit and refinery wide shutdown and startup timelines are appropriately detailed and entered into scheduling software.


Education, Experience and Skills

Minimum Qualifications
  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED and at least 7 years of refinery operations experience including 1 year experience as an Operation TAR/Outage Coordinator, Planner or Supervisor in a refinery OR Bachelors Degree in Engineering with 4 years of refinery operation experience.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft 365: Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Must be able to wear appropriate PPE in the refinery (respirator), be able to physically perform all tasks in the field and take hair drug test and physical.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US without the need for future VISA sponsorship.
  • Travel Requirement is 5% or less.
  • Must be able to work onsite schedule for the position which is Monday-Thursday - 10 hours days, after hours calls are required and support of TAR and outages. Core Business Hours: 6 AM - 4 PM


Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous turnaround planning and execution experience is preferred.
  • Previous supervisory experience is preferred.
