Description

The Ohio Turnpike & Infrastructure Commission is seeking an experienced Senior Lead Counsel to work in our Legal Department at the Administration Building in Berea, OH. Examples of Duties

Main Job Tasks:

  • Provide legal advice and consultation to Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission personnel.
  • Research general issues (i.e., interpretation and application of statutes, rules, court decisions, policies and procedures affecting daily operations).
  • Work on matters related to right-of-way access, permits and leases of the Commission's real property.
  • Prepare inter-agency agreements relative to infrastructure projects or other regulatory matters.
  • Assist General Counsel in the conduct of legal proceedings, including alternative dispute resolution, discovery, negotiation, settlement and/or litigation.
  • Assist General Counsel in the drafting of policies, rules, legal memoranda, agreements, and responses to public records requests.
  • Assist General Counsel in the interpretation of indenture agreements, contracts, ethics issues and records retention procedures.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the General Counsel.

Work Characteristics:

  • Knowledge of operation of state and local government and real estate matters.
  • Experience in litigation and other methods of dispute resolution.
  • Ability to collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions concerning validity of claims/allegations, prepare case evidence and documentation and recommend final disposition.
  • Ability to deal with large number of variables and determine specific course(s) of action.
  • Handle routine and/or sensitive inquiries from and contacts with government officials, business representatives and/or general public.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive records.

Typical Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an American Bar Association accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice law in the State of Ohio pursuant to Section 4705.01 of the Ohio Revised Code.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years' experience in government sector legal matters and/or real estate law.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Exceptional communications skill required.
  • Ability to interact effectively with public officials, the general public and fellow employees.
