Full Job Description

The Senior/Lead Manufacturing Design Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing products and manufacturing processes with a strong focus on manufacturability, scalability, and innovation. This role bridges product design and manufacturing execution, working closely with cross functional teams to translate advanced concepts into robust, high-volume production solutions that optimize cost, capital investment, and system performance. Utilizing computer aided design (CAD) and simulation applications, this individual will create detailed designs, coordinate with product engineering on new model releases, and work with outside integrators to implement best in class solutions for our global manufacturing facilities.

As a Senior/Lead Manufacturing Design Engineer, You Will :

  • Design manufacturing equipment, work-holding, and fixturing for high volume assembly and machining operations using NX 3-D modeling software.

  • Collaborate with product development groups to address industry trends and leveragedesign for manufacturing expertise to ensure all aspects of safety, quality, and performance are achieved.

  • Support early-phase product development including concept generation, feasibility studies, prototyping, and proof-of-concept builds with emphasis on Design for Manufacturability (DFM).

  • Support pilot, prototype, and pre-production builds, incorporating lessons learned into final designs.

  • Work with internal and outside integrators to conceptualize, generate, and propose initial manufacturing design concepts.

  • Lead and perform tolerance stack-ups, risk assessments (DFMEA/PFMEA), and root cause investigations.

  • Create concepts for new manufacturing processes, generate conceptual assembly line & plant floor layouts.

  • Optimize processes utilizing digital manufacturing design & simulations within our digital transformation initiatives.

  • Contribute to the direction of manufacturing design standards to establish synergy between AME, product engineering and our manufacturing plants.

  • Ensure all lab and production-related equipment meet all safety requirements in accordance with applicable industry standards.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical/ Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering Technology, or Industrial Engineering. Associates degree and/or equivalent work experience would also be considered.

  • A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in a design engineering environment

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and demonstrated ability to recognize and solve complex problems in mechanical design.

  • Good organizational, project management, and presentation skills to interact with internal engineers and external vendors.

  • Ability to develop collaborative relationships in a team environment focusing on win-win solutions

  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced engineering environment

  • Has a strong mechanical background & experience with mechanical systems

  • Strong understanding of materials and tool making processes

  • Experience with 3D CAD software (examples: NX, Creo, CATIA, SolidWorks)

  • Advanced proficiency in 3D CAD, GD&T, and engineering documentation standards.

  • Experience and working knowledge of PC applications and Microsoft Office Products

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:

  • Experience in high volume manufacturing tooling/fixturing design

  • Experience in machine & manufacturing design

  • Five (5) years using NX Modeling software

  • Experience working with Teamcenter PLM software

  • Exposure to automation, digital manufacturing, or highly automated production lines

  • Experience with the design & manufacture of high-speed rotating products

Onsite Work Arrangement:

This role is based fully onsite, and not eligible for hybrid or remote work opportunities.There is the option to have 1 work from home day per week.
