Position Description: CGI is seeking a Senior Java/API Developer to join a dynamic team delivering enterprise-scale integration and digital transformation solutions for a leading client. The successful candidate will play a key role in designing, developing, and supporting high-performance APIs and ETL solutions while contributing to the modernization of mission-critical applications.
This role is hybrid and requires you to be at our downtown Toronto office and/or the client office a minimum of two (2) days per week. This requirement is subject to change at any time based on business and client needs.
Your future duties and responsibilities:• Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable Java-based applications and services.
• Develop and support enterprise APIs and integration services.
• Design and implement RESTful APIs following industry best practices.
• Build and maintain ETL processes to support data integration and transformation requirements.
• Collaborate with business analysts, architects, and development teams to define technical solutions.
• Participate in system design discussions and technical reviews.
• Troubleshoot and resolve application and integration issues across environments.
• Ensure application performance, scalability, security, and reliability.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipeline implementation and DevOps practices.
• Support Agile delivery processes including sprint planning, estimation, and code reviews.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:• Extensive experience in Java application development.
• Strong experience designing and developing APIs and web services.
• Hands-on experience with RESTful API development and integration patterns.
• Experience developing and supporting ETL solutions and data transformation processes.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming principles and design patterns.
• Experience with relational databases and SQL.
• Experience with source control systems such as Git.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools and Agile development methodologies.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder collaboration skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
Nice to have -
• Experience with Spring Boot and Microservices architecture.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Experience with containerization technologies and Kubernetes/OpenShift.
• Experience with messaging technologies such as Kafka, MQ, or RabbitMQ.
• Experience in banking, financial services, or other regulated industries.
• Relevant Java or cloud certifications.
**CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $95,000-$145,000. This role is an existing vacancy.
