JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Java Developer with 7-15 years of experience to join our dynamic Workforce Technology Services team. This role involves delivering high-quality technology solutions to modernize and transform the employee experience firmwide. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in building scalable, resilient, and high-performance applications using modern Java technologies, coupled with hands-on technical leadership, microservices architecture, DevOps practices, and proficiency in integrating frontend and backend systems. Experience with Generative AI tools and frameworks will be an advantage. This is a full-time contract position located in Montreal, requiring onsite presence three times a week.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead end-to-end architectural solutions for enterprise-grade applications.
• Design, develop, and maintain high quality Java-based applications using modern frameworks such as Spring Boot, Spring Cloud.
• Define and drive architecture for microservices, distributed systems, event-driven patterns and cloud-native workloads.
• Provide strategic leadership in designing and implementing robust architectures for microservices, distributed systems, event-driven solutions, ensuring scalability, resilience and alignment with enterprise standards.
• Collaborate with product owners and engineering teams to translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Work with RESTful APIs, event-driven architectures and message brokers (Kafka, RabbitMQ).
• Contribute to architectural decisions, code reviews and best practices.
• Provide technical leadership, mentor engineering teams and promote clean coding practices.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or GitLab.
• Deploy and manage applications on Cloud platforms (AWS / Azure / GCP) using Kubernetes, Docker, Helm.
• Ensure security, performance, and compliance in all development practices.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Product, QA, DevOps) in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Leverage GenAI tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Azure OpenAI, LangChain) for code generation, documentation and productivity improvements.
Required Qualifications
• 7 to 12 years of hands on core Java/J2EE development experience.
• Strong knowledge of Java 11+, functional programming, streams, concurrency.
• Expertise in Spring Boot, Spring Data, Spring Security, Spring Batch, Spring Cloud and ORM frameworks like Hibernate.
• Solid understanding of microservices architecture, API design patterns, and distributed systems.
• Experience with SQL/NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, ElasticSearch).
• Strong experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud-native development.
• Knowledge of testing frameworks: JUnit, Mockito, Cucumber.
• Strong problem-solving skills, debugging expertise and system design abilities.
• Exposure to GenAI concepts, LLM integrations, and AI-driven development tools.
• Level 4 (advanced) experience.
• Day 1 onboarding onsite/in office presence 3x/week in Montreal.
