Full Job Description
Overview

We're hiring a hands-on Senior IT Systems Administrator to lead on-site IT operations at our Aurora, CO printed circuit board manufacturing facility (~230 employees), supporting a broader U.S. organization of ~800 employees.

This is a "player-coach" role: you'll own site IT, work directly with users (including on the production floor), and oversee an outsourced IT helpdesk to ensure fast, high-quality support. You should be equally comfortable troubleshooting at a desk, on a manufacturing line, or coordinating escalations with external partners.

What You'll Do

On-Site IT Leadership
  • Serve as the primary IT contact for the Aurora facility
  • Support both office and manufacturing floor environments
  • Provide rapid response to production-impacting issues

Hands-On Support
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, network, and connectivity issues
  • Set up and support laptops, desktops, printers, and mobile devices
  • Support shop-floor tech (shared workstations, barcode scanners, label printers, etc.)
  • Handle onboarding/offboarding (accounts, access, equipment)

Infrastructure & Systems
  • Administer servers, Active Directory/Azure AD, and file systems
  • Support virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V) and backups
  • Maintain network infrastructure (switches, firewalls, VLANs, Wi-Fi, VPN)
  • Monitor system performance, uptime, and patching

Manufacturing Systems Support
  • Support systems connected to production (MES, ERP interfaces, machine PCs/HMIs)
  • Troubleshoot issues impacting manufacturing uptime
  • Coordinate with engineering, operations, and equipment vendors

Vendor Management (Outsourced Helpdesk)
  • Monitor ticket queues, SLAs, and service quality
  • Escalate and step in on critical or unresolved issues
  • Ensure tickets are properly handled and documented
  • Drive continuous improvement with the support vendor

Incident & Asset Management
  • Own resolution of high-impact incidents
  • Perform root cause analysis and prevent recurrence
  • Track and manage IT assets and inventory

Security & Documentation
  • Enforce security best practices and access controls
  • Support audits, patching, and endpoint protection
  • Maintain clear documentation and procedures

Requirements

Required
  • 7+ years of IT systems administration experience
  • Strong hands-on skills in Windows, networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPN), and Active Directory/Azure AD
  • Experience supporting manufacturing or similar operational environments
  • Experience working with outsourced or managed service providers
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in fast-paced, uptime-critical settings

Preferred
  • Experience with MES/ERP in manufacturing
  • Familiarity with OT/industrial environments
  • Experience with Intune, JAMF, SCCM, or similar tools
  • Cloud experience (Azure/AWS)
  • Scripting (PowerShell, Python, Bash)

Key Traits
  • Hands-on, proactive, and accountable
  • Comfortable on a production floor as well as in office settings
  • Able to balance tactical work with vendor oversight
  • Calm and effective during high-impact incidents

Work Environment
  • 100% on-site in Aurora, CO
  • Occasional interaction with manufacturing floor (PPE may be required)
  • On Call support for maintenance or incidents
