Job Summary

The Senior IT Project Manager serves as the technology delivery leader for major Generation Construction projects, including Combined Cycle (CC), Combustion Turbine (CT), Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), Solar Generation, and other strategic generation investments. This role is accountable for planning, executing, and delivering all information technology, telecommunications, cybersecurity, operational technology integration, data, and digital workstreams required to support the successful commissioning and operation of new generation facilities. The position partners closely with Generation Construction, Engineering, Environmental, Operations, Cybersecurity, Telecommunications, Infrastructure, Enterprise Architecture, Vendors, EPC contractors, and external partners to ensure technology capabilities are delivered safely, securely, on schedule, and within budget. This role leads complex, multi-year capital projects with technology investments often exceeding several million dollars and requires extensive experience coordinating technology delivery across large-scale industrial, utility, energy, manufacturing, or infrastructure construction programs.

Key Responsibilities

Technology Delivery Leadership
  • Serve as the single accountable IT Project Manager for technology scope on large generation construction projects.
  • Develop and manage integrated project plans covering IT infrastructure, networking, telecommunications, cybersecurity, OT integration, cloud platforms, end-user technologies, and data solutions.
  • Coordinate technology requirements from project development through engineering, construction, commissioning, turnover, and operations support.


Construction & EPC Integration
  • Partner with EPC contractors, engineering firms, construction managers, and technology vendors to define, plan, and execute technology-related deliverables.
  • Ensure technology milestones are integrated into overall plant construction schedules.
  • Participate in project stage-gates, constructability reviews, commissioning activities, and operational readiness assessments.


Cybersecurity & Compliance
  • Lead implementation of cybersecurity requirements for new generation facilities in partnership with Enterprise Security and OT Security teams.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate security standards, NERC-related requirements (where applicable), technology governance processes, and regulatory obligations.


Telecommunications & Connectivity
  • Coordinate enterprise and plant connectivity solutions including:
    • WAN/LAN infrastructure
    • Fiber and carrier services
    • Radio and wireless communications
    • Voice and collaboration solutions
    • Remote monitoring and operational connectivity


Operational Technology & Data Integration
  • Coordinate integration of plant systems with enterprise platforms including:
    • Historian and operational data platforms
    • Asset management systems
    • Monitoring and performance applications
    • Digital engineering and analytics solutions
    • Data integration platforms supporting operational reporting and decision making


Stakeholder & Financial Management
  • Manage technology project budgets and forecasts
  • Present project status, risks, financial metrics, and mitigation strategies to senior leadership and executive sponsors.
  • Lead cross-functional project teams consisting of internal resources, contractors, vendors, and business stakeholders.

  • In lieu of Bachelors degree(s) AND 7 year(s) related work experience listed above, High School/GED AND 11 year(s) related work experience


Desired Qualifications
  • Previous Duke Energy experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Computer Science, Construction Management, or related discipline.
  • 10+ years of project management experience delivering large-scale technology programs.
  • 5+ years supporting industrial, utility, energy, manufacturing, or critical infrastructure projects
  • Direct experience supporting the construction and commissioning of:
    • Combined Cycle (CC) generation facilities
    • Combustion Turbine (CT) generation facilities
    • Utility-scale solar generation projects
    • Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects
  • Experience coordinating IT, Telecom, Cybersecurity, OT, and Digital technology scopes within major construction programs.
  • Experience working with EPC contractors and large vendor ecosystems.
  • PMP certification required or obtained within 12 months.
  • Utility industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of generation operations, industrial networking, operational technology environments, and capital project delivery frameworks.


Additional Preferred Qualification Section
  • Demonstrated success delivering technology for multiple generation construction projects from initiation through commercial operation.
  • Experience managing geographically dispersed project teams and field deployments.
  • Strong working knowledge of utility construction lifecycle, commissioning processes, and operational turnover requirements.
  • Experience presenting project status and investment decisions to executive leadership.
  • Ability to lead multiple concurrent generation projects while maintaining governance, risk management, and financial accountability.


Working Conditions
  • Field Mobility Classification - Work will be performed in various field locations, as needed, after the onboarding period. However, field employees are required to live within a reasonable daily commute to their assigned work location.
