The salary for this position is negotiated through a collective bargaining agreement. All new employees will be hired at the minimum salary in the range and will be eligible for merit increases until reaching the maximum salary in the range.
Definition
Incumbents perform a variety of complex troubleshooting functions at the lead worker level to support the day-to-day operation of the Department's computer systems and their users.
Minimum Qualifications/Position-Specific ConditionsTraining, Education and Experience- Four years of increasingly responsible computer troubleshooting and customer service support experience; or completion of progression to an IT Customer Support Specialist II.
- Equivalent to an Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, management information systems, information technologies, computer programming, or a closely related field.
- Possession of, or the ability to obtain, a valid, appropriate Nevada driver's license.
- Be a citizen/naturalized citizen or permanent resident alien without conditions on status of the United States of America by the date of the first test instrument.
- Be at least 18 years old by the date of the first test instrument.
**If you possess an Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, management information systems, information technologies, computer programming, or a closely related field; you are required to attach your unofficial college transcripts at the time of application.** Best Candidates Will Have- Certifications obtained through the Microsoft Certified Professional Program, CompTIA, Cisco Internetworking Certification Program, or any other approved information technology certification.
- A degree from an accredited college with major course work in Information Technologies.
- More than four years of recent experience in computer troubleshooting and customer service support.
- Work experience with a Law Enforcement agency.
- Ability to work and collaborate in a team environment while fostering and maintaining positive working relationships.
- Experience leading a team in technical and functional tasks.
- Leadership experience including mentoring others, embracing feedback, and contributing to continuous improvement for self and others.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.

- Personal Appearance: While on duty, and/or representing the Department, uniformed or otherwise, all Department employees will be neat and clean in their appearance in public. Employees are prohibited from attaching, affixing, or displaying objects, articles or jewelry on or through the nose, tongue, eyebrow or other exposed body part, except the ears for females, while on duty. Employees are prohibited from stretching or "gauging" their earlobes. All jewelry implants will not be exposed or visible while on duty. Tattoos or branding will not be exposed or visible while on duty and/or representing the Department. Such markings must be covered by clothing. Markings that cannot be covered by clothing will be covered using neutral-toned bandages or patches except for hands, neck, head, or face tattoos. Makeup is not permissible to cover a tattoo. Tattoos or branding anywhere on the body that promote racism/discrimination, indecency, extremist or supremacist philosophies, lawlessness, violence, or contain sexually explicit material are prohibited.
- Participate in the LVMPD Wellness Program.
- Are subject to be on call on a 24-hour basis, which requires the employees to live within the jurisdiction of LVMPD, i.e., a 25-mile radius starting at Sahara and Valley View Blvd.

- Are required to maintain an appropriate Nevada driver's license.
- Mobility to work in the office and off-site locations housing computer equipment.
- Bodily strength and endurance sufficient to sit at computer terminals for prolonged periods of time and lift and move moderately heavy computer equipment.

Additional Selection ProcessesIf you successfully complete the above selection process, you will undergo a thorough background investigation, including a polygraph exam. LAS VEGAS METROPOLITAN POLICE DEPARTMENTCIVILIAN EMPLOYEE BENEFITS Benefits are effective July 1, 2023, are based
upon an 80 hour pay period in a paid status, and are subject to change.
COMPENSATION ASSIGNMENT DIFFERENTIAL: Specific assignments may qualify for assignment differential pay.
EDUCATION INCENTIVE: Civilian employees possessing an Associate, Bachelor, or Master Degree from an accredited college or university will receive a designated amount per pay period based on degree.
OVERTIME PAY / COMPENSATORY TIME: Employees who work overtime have the option of being paid at 1-1/2 times their hourly rate or receiving 1-1/2 hours of compensatory time. Compensatory time may not accumulate beyond 60 hours.
SHIFT DIFFERENTIAL: Employees will receive an additional 4% shift pay for working a swing shift or a graveyard shift. After completing initial probation, employees working a graveyard shift encompassing the hours of midnight to 5:00 a.m. will receive an additional 2% shift pay.
LANGUAGE PAY: Qualified employees may receive Language Pay each pay period.
UNIFORMS: The Department furnishes, maintains, and cleans all uniforms for those personnel required to wear uniforms, with the exception of footgear.
TAXES: State/City - Nevada has no state tax or city income tax.
Social Security - Employees enrolled in PERS pay no social security.
Medicare - Medicare is deducted at the rate of 1.45%.
WORKING HOURS: Employees work 80 hours bi-weekly. Depending upon the area of assignment, employees work an 8-hour, a 9-hour, a 10-hour, or a 12-hour shift per day.
LEAVE AND HOLIDAYS ANNUAL VACATION LEAVE: Employees begin accruing vacation leave immediately at the following rates:
- 1 - 14 years of service:4.62 hours per pay period (3 weeks per year)
- 15 - 19 years of service:6.15 hours per pay period (4 weeks per year)
- 20 + years of service:7.68 hours per pay period (5 weeks per year)
Vacation leave may be used after 6 months of continuous service.
On December 31st of each year, employees may carry over a portion of accrued leave, based upon their years of service.
Employees separating from the Department are eligible to cash out all accrued vacation if they have completed six months of continuous service.
BEREAVEMENT LEAVE: Employees may take bereavement leave for members of their immediate family. This leave can be deducted from any available accrued leave.
BONUS LEAVE: If an employee uses the equivalent of 3 days or less of sick leave, (including Family Leave), within an employment year, (the year beginning with the date of hire), s/he will rece
