Full Job Description
As the primary IT administrator for an ARA business unit, you will manage local Windows servers, VMware virtual machines, backups, and Linux systems while serving as the technical lead for end-user computing. You'll work closely with Corporate IT teams responsible for enterprise services while owning day-to-day IT operations for your division.

What you'll do as a Senior IT Administrator:

  • Serve on a small team as the senior IT administrator for a dedicated ARA business unit.
  • Provide advanced technical support for Windows desktops, laptops, servers, and business applications.
  • Support and administer Linux systems supporting specialized High-Performance Computing (HPC) environments.
  • Take ownership managing and supporting a Windows server environment.
  • Support and maintain a VMware vSphere and vCenter environment.
  • May oversee daily activities of a small IT team - coordinating priorities, supporting staff success, and providing regular updates to the supervising manager.
  • Manage file, print, and license servers.
  • Administer and monitor Veeam backup operations and assist with disaster recovery activities.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, operating system, and network connectivity issues in both physical and virtual environments.
  • Create, manage, and maintain user accounts and access permissions.
  • Monitor systems and coordinate the timely deployment of security patches and updates.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, operating procedures, and asset inventory records.
  • Manage hardware and software lifecycle activities, including procurement, deployment, inventory, and licensing.
  • Lead or participate in infrastructure improvement projects and technology deployments.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to other IT staff, as needed.
  • Coordinate with Corporate IT teams to support enterprise technologies and ensure compliance with corporate standards.


Senior IT Administrator Requirements:

  • Minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience, experience supporting desktops/laptops and servers; specifically, with systems running Windows 10, Server 2012+ on a Windows network, including printers and other peripherals. (Education may be counted in lieu of experience, one year of college is equivalent to two years of experience).
  • Experience with Windows Server 2012 and above
  • Experience with Ubuntu, Red Hat, or other Linux operating systems
  • Experience supporting a VMware vSphere and vCenter environment.
  • Experience administering Microsoft Active Directory.
  • Experience supporting an array of applications on Windows operating systems including, Microsoft Office, SharePoint, email, VPN clients, firewalls, disk encryption, and antivirus software.
  • Experience troubleshooting hardware, software, operating systems, and networking issues in physical and virtual environments.
  • Strong customer service, communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance, which includes US citizenship.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with technical and non-technical teams.
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.


Education

  • Bachelor's degree in MIS, CS, or other IT-related field or equivalent experience
