SUMMARY

The TFMS Senior Interior Designer is part of a team delivering Space Layout & Interior design, Functional Space Planning and Furniture Procurement Support services. They will develop design concepts, strategic occupancy plans & forecasts according to client needs and specifications and with consideration to factors such as cost, budget, timelines, environment, structural impact and limitations. Design work must meet client specifications and must be delivered within budget and timelines. This includes information gathering, needs analysis/validation, stacking, blocking, preliminary planning and design brief development. Options are developed in support of annual planning and in response to client on-demand business needs. The Senior Interior Designer works with internal BGIS staff as well as client and external consultants, as required, to ensure timely, successful implementation of TFMS Services and client project work.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Service Delivery - Functional Planning Services
  • Supports the Sr Workplace Strategist and other studio members in information gathering and functional planning activities including
    workshop delivery and analysis.
  • Develops functional programing documents including findings and recommendations.
  • Develops stacking and blocking plans as well as detailed space requirements workbooks.
  • Develops room data sheets for typical and special purpose spaces as required by the project.
  • Participates in needs analysis and requirements documentation.
  • Determines application of workplace program to meet specific client requirements.

Service Delivery - Space Layout & Interior Design Services
  • Applies information from the functional program through space layout and design activities to translate requirements into functional
    space layouts in AutoCAD.
  • Develops interior design and furniture concept documents including research of materials/finishes as required.
  • Develops digital presentations to communicate design concepts, options and intent in support of client decision making.
  • Renders design ideas in the form of 3-D renderings, work drawings, plans, models and schemes using computer-aided design (CAD)
    software.
  • Performs site verification, site measurements, furniture inventory and equipment inventory.
  • Delivers space planning services including layouts for reconfigurations and or minor modifications.
  • May act as lead on complex design projects and provide direction to other designers as required by the studio lead.
  • Provides other interior design services as required.
  • Complies with all regulatory, environmental, health and safety requirements.
  • Incorporates sustainable practices, where practical, into project delivery, in accordance with client and BGIS processes.
  • Completes technical assessments of client locations in support of strategic planning and programs.

Service Delivery - Furniture Procurement Support
  • Develops detailed furniture specifications and documentation required to procure furniture in accordance with the client standards,
    requirements and supply arrangements and procurement policies.
  • Communicates solutions and recommendations to clients to obtain feedback in support of final solution development.
  • Develops detailed workpoint typicals to communicate functional requirements including 3D models.
  • Develops detailed furniture specifications and requirements to support client.
  • Supports the development of tender documents for the client.
  • Finalizes orders including finishes, quantities and other details upon client furniture tender awards.
  • Supports the hand-off of delivery and installation of furniture to the MAC team and provides guidance and consultation as required through the implementation process.

Project Management Support
  • Manages time on different tasks effectively and reports delays, barriers to progress and or schedule impacts to their project lead.
  • Assists project leads with coordination of tasks and deliverables.
  • Supports the development and management of project reporting materials.
  • Reports progress to the project lead on a regular basis to support the effective management of project schedules and costs.

Relationship Management
  • Consults with and maintains relationships with client representatives at the project level.
  • Maintains positive relations to meet client objectives.
  • Effectively and pro-actively communicates with stakeholders, such as Clients, contractors and and project lead to ensure Client satisfaction and BGIS's success.
  • Develops strong internal relationships with other line of business in order to ensure alignment and promote and support integrated delivery of services - One BGIS.
  • Provides mentoring to junior team members through knowledge sharing.
  • Maintains strong industry relationships.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
  • Proficient in interior design and documentation. (7 + years in interior design role delivering interior design projects)
  • Excellent drafting and AutoCAD skills. Ability to develop 3D models and rendering using sketchup, AutoCAD 3D or other. (Experience
    with and understanding of activity-based workplace models)
  • Software proficiencies including MS Excel, MS Project, Word, Powerpoint, Outlook, AutoCAD, Sketchp, Bluebeam, Publisher.
  • (Experience working in a multi-discipline team including coordination and collaboration of different disciplines working drawings and
    specifications)
  • Knowledge and understanding of building and fire codes, accessibility standards and other industry standards such as LEED, WELL
    or others. (Experience planning and designing corporate interiors, activity-based workplaces and advanced workplace strategies
    including work with specification of systems furniture)
  • Ability to develop creative and functional interior design solutions to solve client issues. (Experience leading high complexity design
    projects.)
  • Strong communication skills (written, oral and visual) to effectively convey design information and intent as well as general relationship
    and service delivery tasks. (Experience working through the full lifecycle of a project from program development to implementation)
  • Strong organizational and time management skills. (Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously)

Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation
  • NCIDQ Certification.
  • BAID degree from a CIDA accredited post-secondary school or equivalent program (CIDA accredited).
  • LEED AP & or WELL AP is an asset including development.

This is a regular, full-time position with a salary range of $73,600 - $92,000 per annum. The starting salary will be based on the successful candidate's competencies, including but not limited to experience, education and performance related to this role.
