Full Job Description
Position Summary

We are seeking a senior insurance consultant to serve as a lead reviewer and day-to-day client contact within the Lender Consulting practice. This is a hands-on execution role: the person in this seat owns transactions end to end, from reading the loan document and extracting insurance requirements through borrower and broker negotiation, issuance of the final insurance report, and post-closing follow-up. The role carries direct relationship responsibility with sophisticated institutional lenders and their asset management teams, and is a technical resource for less experienced members of the consulting team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review insurance provisions in loan agreements and related transaction documents; extract and interpret the applicable insurance requirements for each deal.
  • Review evidences of insurance, evidence of property coverage, certificates of liability insurance, coverage proposals, policy forms, schedules of values, and other insurance documentation against loan requirements to confirm coverage compliance.
  • Prepare and issue the insurance reports, including the insurance compliance memo, carrier rating schedule, statement of values, flood zone determinations and mapping, premium/paid receipt documentation, and the loan agreement insurance requirements exhibit.
  • Manage open items tracking through closing and handle any post-closing deliverables.

Client & Broker Relationships
  • Serve as the day to day point of contact for assigned lender and investor clients and their deal teams.
  • Negotiate directly with borrowers, their brokers, and carriers to close compliance gaps.
  • Field substantive coverage questions from clients (for example, requests for coverage accommodations) providing recommendations in accordance with client standards and in accordance with clients' business goals.
  • Coordinate specialized partners, such as environmental consultants, when a transaction warrants.

Technical Depth
  • Apply working command of insurance requirements for balance sheet, CMBS, and debt fund lenders.
  • Handle the full range of CRE asset types and structures, including multifamily, industrial, retail, hospitality, self-storage, construction projects, and CPACE financed transactions.
  • Evaluate blanket versus scheduled limits, aggregate loss limits, aggregate deductible funds, captives and risk purchasing/retention groups, and premium financing arrangements.

Team Support & Knowledge Sharing
  • Act as a technical escalation point for other team members; review their work and coach on judgment calls rather than checklist compliance.
  • Share coverage insights and lessons learned with Hilb's commercial brokerage team so the firm operates as one integrated CRE advisory platform.
  • Contribute to training materials and teaching sessions built on real deals and real claims.

Operational Innovation
  • Participate in the practice's integration of AI and workflow automation into lender consulting (compliance memo drafting, requirement extraction, open-items tracking, and data aggregation)

Qualifications
  • 8 -15+ years of experience in commercial real estate insurance, lender consulting/insurance compliance review, or CRE risk management, with substantial hands-on transactional experience.
  • Demonstrated command of CRE coverage, including property, general liability, umbrella/excess, builder's risk, OCIP/CCIP, flood, pollution/environmental and debt fund insurance requirements.
  • Proven ability to own client relationships independently and to negotiate constructively with borrowers and brokers under closing pressure.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; ongoing verbal communication with clients to demonstrate insurance's impact on business goals and the ultimate deliverables in this role are written work product that clients rely on.
  • Bachelor's degree required; relevant designations (CPCU, ARM, CRIS) and active P&C or Advisor's license strongly preferred.
  • Comfort with a small, scrappy, collaborative team and with contributing to process improvement rather than inheriting a finished playbook.

Compensation
Competitive compensation commensurate with a senior technical consulting role, including base salary, incentive compensation, and full Hilb Group benefits.
