  • Identify potential out-of-scope activities and coordinate with senior staff before proceeding.

Strategy Engineering is seeking an Instrumentation and Controls Engineer who is responsible for supporting and actively participating in detailed I&C design activities in a variety of off-shore and on-shore projects.

As a successful candidate, you will support senior and mid-level engineers in the preparation of engineering deliverables such as Instrument Datasheets, Cable Schedules, Instrument Indexes, and I/O Lists. You will assist in the development of design drawings such as PLC Panel Layout Drawings, Junction Box Layout Drawings, Wiring Diagrams, and Instrument Installation Details, under guidance and supervision.

This is a fast-paced position in which the senior engineer will work with multiple simultaneous project teams for onshore and offshore facilities. The senior electrical engineer is expected to have a functional working knowledge of common industry standards, and be able to will be able to independently complete tasks which meet the needs of the customer and project teams. Additionally, this role is expected to provide backup to engineering management tasks, including leadership on project teams, mentorship, and proposal work.

Responsibilities and Duties may include the following, pending project requirements:
  • Prepare Instrument Datasheets, Instrument Indexes, I/O Lists, and Cable Schedules under supervision.
  • Assist with sizing calculations for Control Valves, Relief Valves, and Orifice Meters with guidance from senior engineers.
  • Specify common industry instrumentation such as Pressure, Temperature, Flow, and Level Transmitters and gauges in accordance with project standards.
  • Review and provide input to P&IDs from an instrumentation and controls perspective with senior engineer oversight.
  • Work with a senior engineer and design and drafting team to produce instrumentation drawings such as Instrument Wiring Diagrams, Instrument Installation Details, Junction Box and PLC Panel Layout Drawings, and B.O.M.
  • Review vendor submittals and packages under supervision to verify compliance with project requirements.
  • Assist with Technical Bid Evaluations when required and appropriate for experience level.
  • Identify potential out-of-scope activities and coordinate with senior engineers or management prior to proceeding.

Required Skills/Qualifications:
  • Professional Engineering License is required.
  • Experience with high voltage distribution, transmission, and substations is required.
  • Experience with renewable energy systems, including solar layout and design and BESS is highly preferred.
  • Ability to read, create, and modify electrical control schematics is preferred.
  • Must have high proficiency with common Office computer software, including PDF markup tools.
  • Must have a functional working knowledge of NFPA 70, API 500, and other key industry codes and standards.
  • Experience with harmonic and transient analysis in ETAP/SKM is highly preferred.
