Required Education and Experience

  • Associate degree in Engineering with 6 years of relevant project management experience, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Minimum 4 years of fire alarm, life safety, or related project management experience.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage fire alarm, life safety, security, prime, and design-build projects from planning through closeout, including scope, schedule, budget, resources, milestones, deliverables, and overall execution.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, field staff, subcontractors, clients, contractors, architects, vendors, inspectors, and other stakeholders to keep projects aligned, compliant, and on schedule.
  • Lead project reviews, site visits, pre-tests, commissioning activities, and FDNY inspections to support quality, compliance, safety, and client satisfaction.
  • Review drawings, specifications, engineered documents, panel information, and project requirements to confirm scope, materials, methods, and field execution plans.
  • Oversee field execution, including layout, conduit preparation, wiring, equipment testing, parts requisitioning, tool readiness, material tracking, and job site organization.
  • Support installation, retrofit, service, testing, inspection, troubleshooting, and repair work in accordance with NYC, NFPA, HRFS, and applicable electrical code requirements.
  • Identify code, quality, safety, system, and non-conformance issues; recommend practical solutions; and escalate service, programming, or technical matters as needed.
  • Supervise, support, and mentor field installers, junior technicians, and junior Project Managers on fire alarm products, codes, safety practices, and project management standards.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including work orders, system reports, materials records, commissioning notes, field changes, risks, solutions, and final closeout documentation.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, managers, office teams, and stakeholders; provide timely progress updates; support Sales with walkthroughs and takeoffs; and maintain positive client relationships.


Skills and Knowledge

  • Strong project management, budgeting, scheduling, risk management, problem-solving, and execution skills across multiple concurrent projects.
  • Working knowledge of fire alarm systems, life safety products, electrical theory, circuitry, device configuration, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and related field equipment.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, drawings, specifications, manuals, assembly instructions, and engineered documents.
  • Knowledge of NYC Building Code, NFPA, NEC Article 760, ADA requirements, grounding, bonding, and applicable local electrical code requirements; EST product knowledge preferred.
  • Strong communication, documentation, report-writing, organizational, time management, analytical, and mathematical skills.
  • Effective leadership, decision-making, negotiation, client service, safety awareness, and team collaboration skills.
  • Self-directed and dependable, with Microsoft Office proficiency and the ability to work effectively under pressure in both office and field environments.
