Job Title: Senior Infrastructure Engineer

Location(s): Richmond, VA
(Hybrid - 1-2 days/week onsite after initial training)

Job Summary
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Infrastructure Engineer to support and enhance a hybrid infrastructure environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in Windows Server administration, cloud platforms, security, automation, patch management, and production application support. This role requires hands-on experience performing infrastructure upgrades, migrations, remediation, and troubleshooting for mission-critical systems.

The engineer will support enterprise applications built on Java, .NET, Oracle, SQL Server, Microsoft Dynamics, and warehouse platforms while providing advanced server-level administration and infrastructure support. Strong networking knowledge, including the OSI model and network protocols, is essential.

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure Operations & Administration
  • Administer, maintain, and optimize Windows Server environments across on-premises and cloud infrastructure.
  • Perform operating system upgrades, patch installation, testing, and routine system maintenance.
  • Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts and automation solutions for repetitive administrative tasks.
  • Lead server migration projects, including migrating workloads from on-premises environments to cloud platforms.

Security & Compliance
  • Implement server hardening, endpoint protection, access controls, and security best practices.
  • Perform vulnerability remediation for servers and enterprise applications.
  • Support infrastructure security monitoring and compliance initiatives.

Patching, Monitoring & Automation
  • Manage enterprise patching using SCCM or similar patch management platforms.
  • Monitor infrastructure health, performance, and availability.
  • Proactively identify and resolve infrastructure issues.

Backup & Disaster Recovery
  • Manage backup operations for mission-critical systems.
