Please note that this is a hybrid position requiring applicants to be within commuting distance of Toronto or Kitchener-Waterloo for in person meetings 1-2 times a quarter. All candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.

The Opportunity

Our team is expanding, and we are seeking a dedicated Senior Infrastructure Developer to ensure our platform infrastructure remains secure, reliable, and continually evolving. Following a phase of rapid growth and success, we are now directing our focus toward advancing the next generation of our Blue J product. As a Senior Infrastructure Developer, you will help create the cloud platform that runs our generative AI application. You'll work with AWS,Linux, Kubernetes, Terraform, and CI/CD to automate infrastructure, strengthen the security and reliability of our platform, and build self-service capabilities that enable development teams to deliver applications quickly, securely, and at scale. You won't be starting from scratch. Our automated delivery pipelines and infrastructure are managed as code. You'll have the opportunity to further enhance these systems, help us define what's next!

What You'll be Doing

  • Designing, implementing, and maintaining resilient Cloud Infrastructure
  • Production and development Infrastructure management and automation
  • Implement and maintain monitoring, alerting, and logging solutions to ensure system visibility and performance
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to streamline CI/CD processes and deployments
  • Assist in designing and implementing data pipelines
  • Proactively identifying and addressing potential issues to prevent escalation and ensuring smooth operations
  • Participating in on-call processes


What You Offer Blue J

  • 5+ years of experience managing cloud infrastructure (AWS or GCP) via Infrastructure as Code
    • Terraform or similar tool such as Pulumi
    • Use of a programming language such as Python, Ruby, JavaScript, Go, etc
  • 3+ years of experience with Kubernetes
  • Deep understanding of Linux is required
  • Security or Performance engineering experience is an asset
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent industry experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Compensation

The base pay range for this role is CA$160,000 - CA$180,000 per year.

This is a Level 4 in Blue J's career level framework. We use levels to define the expected scope, autonomy, impact, decision-making, and experience for each role. Final compensation will be set fairly and thoughtfully based on experience, expertise, and alignment with the role's responsibilities. While all candidates are expected to bring directly relevant experience, the top of the range is typically reserved for individuals who demonstrate exceptional depth in the role's core competencies, a strong track record of impact in similar environments, and the ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy from day one.
