Job Summary
Electrician III is a senior-level position within the electrical field, typically requiring several years of experience and advanced technical skills. Responsibilities may include installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems in commercial settings. Electrician IIIs may also be responsible for supervising and training junior electricians/apprentices, interpreting blueprints and technical drawings, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and knowledge of electrical codes are essential for success in this role.

Essential Functions
• Complete all assigned jobs safely and in the most efficient manner available. Use experience and training to make recommendations that will reduce cost to the assignment.
• Direct supervision of assigned apprentice(s) to assure that the apprentice is following all VMC policies and safety procedures.
• Assist the Electrical foreman with department cost control. Utilize electrical experience to organize and assign tasks to eliminate idle time whenever possible.
• Keep the Electrical Foreman informed on the progress of all assignments, and of any variables that may change the scope of the assigned task.
• Ensure electrical work and equipment complies with the NEC, MSHA and OSHA requirements.
• Knowledge and experience in interpreting the NEC and familiarity with the NESC, MSHA and OSHA.
• Ability to perform but not limited to the following tasks:
• Install / Remove/ Troubleshoot/ Sensors
• Familiar with Plant Specific Safety Precautions for Troubleshooting and General Safety Precautions for Troubleshooting
• Electrical ARC Flash Protection
• Operating Switch & fuse Disconnects
• Electrical LO/TO Procedures
• Testing & Troubleshooting circuits 600V and Less & Higher
• Medium Voltage Construction & Installation
• Labeling Disconnect switches and Devices
• Crusher and Conveyor Circuits and Interlocks
• Installation & Maintenance of Belt Scales, maintenance of Metal Detectors and Installation & Maintenance of cameras

Critical Competencies
• Equipment Operation - Proficiency in operating large equipment, including understanding the controls, gauges, and indicators. Ability to manipulate equipment accurately and smoothly for various tasks. Skill in handling attachments and understanding their applications.
• Safety Awareness - Ability to recognize, understand, and adhere to safety protocols and procedures in the workplace; proactive in identifying potential hazards, taking steps to mitigate risks, and ensuring that both personal and collective safety are maintained in all tasks and environments.
• Technical Expertise - Solid mechanical understanding of mobile equipment, including basic maintenance checks and troubleshooting minor issues. Ability to identify signs of equipment malfunction and report them to the maintenance team.
• Material Handling - Proficient in loading various materials onto trucks, conveyors, or other transport vehicles while maintaining load stability and distribution. Ability to estimate weights and volumes for optimal loading and transportation efficiency.
• Problem Solving - identify, analyze, and resolve work-related issues efficiently and effectively using practical knowledge, experience, and hands-on skills. This involves identifying the problem, diagnosing the cause, finding practical solutions, implementing fixes, and adapting to unexpected challenges.
• Teamwork and Collaboration - Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with others to achieve common goals; contributes positively to group efforts, sharing knowledge, and being open to others' ideas and feedback.
• Adaptability - Adapts to new conditions, is flexible and open-minded when facing challenges, and maintains high performance during change

Responsibilities

Education
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of an Apprenticeship Program or 5+ years of training in the electrical field.

Experience
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in the electrical trade, laying out work and organizing jobs.
• Demonstrable experience interpreting pertinent electrical codes (NEC, NESC & MSHA)
• Experience in the mining industry is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Ability to interact with plant personnel when requests for service are received.
• Ability to 'lay out' the requested task, determine manpower and supplies needed and forward information to the Electrical Foreman for ordering of materials and scheduling.
• Flexible and adaptable to coordinate the day-to-day work requirements as well as handle situation that may arise from time to time which are outside of the normal routine.
• Understand VMC's electrical safety policies, procedures, and guidelines.
• Maintain safe operating standards, continually improving electrical safety through observation and coaching of apprentices.
• Possess and maintain a valid driver's license for the state in which you are assigned.

Other Requirements
• Must have the ability to lift 40 pounds and occasionally heavier items; able to stand, sit and walk for long periods of time.
• Must have the ability to drive a repair truck, pick up or fork truck on a daily basis.
• Knowledge in use of phone systems, cell phones and other electronic devices is essential.
• Must have the ability to use computerized equipment and technology.
• Local travel as well as a periodic need to travel by airline.
• Ability to work in a very stressful, deadline-oriented environment that requires complex, technical information and decision making.
• Must be able to present complex information in a clear and concise manner.

Salary Range. The base hourly range for this role is between $40.00 - $47.00 per hour. This
range is not inclusive of our discretionary bonus or equity package. When determining a
candidate's compensation, we consider a number of factors, including skillset, experience, job
scope, and current market data.
