Position Overview

TIC Power is seeking a Senior Indirect Lead Estimator to support the development of competitive and accurate cost estimates for large-scale power generation and industrial construction projects. This position is responsible for leading the preparation of indirect cost estimates, including temporary facilities, construction equipment, field supervision, project controls, safety, quality, procurement support, and other project overhead costs. The Senior Indirect Lead Estimator works closely with estimating, operations, engineering, procurement, and project management teams to develop comprehensive project execution strategies and estimate packages.

This role requires extensive experience in heavy industrial, energy, power generation, EPC, and construction environments, along with a strong understanding of construction means and methods, project execution planning, and risk evaluation.

District Overview

TIC Power (TICP) is a subsidiary of Kiewit Corporation that provides direct-hire construction services for Power Generation utilizing a non-union craft force. Strength in estimating and pre-project planning. Constructing cogeneration, combined-cycle, geothermal and waste-to-energy generation and resource facilities. TIC Power builds major EPC power plant projects throughout North America.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and preparation of indirect cost estimates for power generation and industrial construction projects.
  • Collaborate with operations, engineering, procurement, scheduling, and estimating teams to develop execution plans that support competitive and realistic project estimates.
  • Analyze project specifications, drawings, schedules, labor requirements, equipment needs, subcontracting strategies, and construction methodologies.
  • Develop estimates for:
    • Field supervision and management staffing
    • Temporary construction facilities
    • Construction equipment and tooling
    • Site logistics and material handling
    • Safety and quality programs
    • Project controls and administration
    • Startup and commissioning support
    • Information technology and communications systems
    • Travel, per diem, and mobilization costs
  • Prepare detailed cost breakdowns, assumptions, qualifications, and estimate narratives.
  • Participate in estimate reviews, risk assessments, bid strategy meetings, and management presentations.
  • Coordinate with schedulers to understand project durations, manpower curves, and equipment utilization requirements.
  • Evaluate alternative construction approaches and execution strategies to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Analyze historical project data and benchmark information to improve estimating accuracy.
  • Support proposal development and customer presentations as needed.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior estimators and estimating personnel.
  • Maintain estimating databases, labor productivity factors, and indirect cost models.
  • Assist project teams during estimate turnover and project startup activities.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 10+ years of estimating, project controls, construction management, field operations, or related industrial construction experience.
  • Experience estimating large EPC, power generation, industrial, oil & gas, renewable energy, utility, or heavy civil projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction means and methods.
  • Experience with indirect cost estimating and project execution planning.
  • Ability to analyze project schedules and resource requirements.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and estimating software platforms.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively present estimate information to project leadership and executive management.
