Position SummaryUrth Caffé is seeking a hands-on, an experienced
Senior Human Resources Director to provide strategic leadership and hands-on support across all Human Resources, Compliance, Employee Relations, and Workplace Safety functions. Reporting to executive leadership, this role serves as a trusted advisor and business partner while actively supporting the HR team and operational leaders across café operations, culinary production, drivers, and corporate departments.
The Senior HR Director is responsible for developing and executing people strategies that support organizational growth, employee engagement, legal compliance, risk management, workplace safety, talent acquisition, leadership development, and operational excellence. This role oversees HR programs across multiple locations in California and Nevada and partners closely with leadership to create a positive, compliant, and high-performing workplace.
Key Responsibilities- Provide strategic HR leadership and guidance to executives, managers, and department leaders.
- Lead and support all core HR functions including talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, compensation, benefits, training, and compliance.
- Oversee multi-location HR operations, ensuring consistent application of company policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws, including California and Nevada labor regulations.
- Lead workplace investigations, employee relations matters, corrective actions, and conflict resolution initiatives.
- Develop, implement, and monitor workplace safety, injury prevention, workers' compensation, return-to-work, and risk management programs.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, Cal/OSHA, food safety, and other regulatory requirements applicable to restaurant, culinary production, transportation, and corporate environments.
- Partner with Operations, Payroll, Finance, Training, and other departments to support workforce planning and business objectives.
- Develop and maintain HR policies, employee handbooks, safety programs, training initiatives, and compliance procedures.
- Utilize HR metrics, reporting, and workforce analytics to drive informed business decisions and continuous improvement.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the HR team while fostering a collaborative, service-oriented culture.
QualificationsRequired:- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- 10+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, including 5+ years in senior HR leadership.
- Strong knowledge of California employment law, HR best practices, compliance, and workplace investigations.
- Experience supporting multi-location operations and diverse employee populations.
- Proven ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on execution.
- Excellent leadership, communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred:- Hospitality, restaurant, food & beverage, retail, manufacturing, distribution, or multi-unit operations experience.
- Experience leading workplace safety, workers' compensation, OSHA/Cal-OSHA compliance, and risk management programs.
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification.
- Experience with ADP Workforce Now and other Human Capital Management (HCM) platforms required, including payroll, benefits administration, workforce management, reporting, and employee lifecycle management.
- Experience supporting organizations with 500+ employees.
