Location: 315 North Racine Avenue Chicago, IL 60607

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, normal business hours
  • This position offers a hybrid based model of 2 days remote and 3 days onsite


General Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Human Resources Director to provide strategic and operational leadership for benefits, compensation, and HR operations. In partnership with the Chief Human Resources Officer, this leader will help develop competitive total rewards programs, strengthen HR systems and administrative practices, and deliver accurate, responsive services throughout the employment lifecycle. The ideal candidate combines strategic perspective with disciplined execution and can lead people, programs, vendors, data, and change across a complex, multi-site organization.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Work collaborative with the CHRO to develop and implement HR strategy, governance, priorities, and special initiatives, and represent Human Resources on committees and projects as assigned.
  • Lead the strategy, design, administration, and evaluation of compensation, benefits, recognition, and wellness programs to support organizational priorities and colleague needs.
  • Oversee HR operations, including records, data integrity, reporting, assigned HR systems, payroll coordination, and administrative processes across the colleague lifecycle.
  • Partner with leaders across the organization, consultants, carriers, and other vendors to promote sound governance, affordability, compliance, and effective program delivery.
  • Develop and maintain compensation frameworks, market analyses, job evaluation practices, pay recommendations, and related controls that support equitable and competitive pay decisions.
  • Guide benefits administration, annual enrollment, vendor performance, plan communications, issue resolution, and program review while supporting a positive colleague experience.
  • Develop, interpret, and consistently administer HR policies, procedures, programs, and service standards; monitor federal, state, and local requirements and recommend updates.
  • Analyze workforce data, benchmarks, audit findings, and colleague feedback to assess risk, evaluate program effectiveness, and present clear recommendations to leadership.
  • Improve HR technology and workflows to strengthen accuracy, efficiency, accessibility, confidentiality, and user experience.
  • Lead change management and communications for new programs, systems, policies, and ways of working.
  • Lead, coach, and develop assigned HR colleagues; establish clear goals, service expectations, cross-training, and continuity of operations.


Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, human resources management, organizational development, or a related field; master's degree preferred.
  • Seven or more years of progressively responsible human resources experience, including leadership responsibility and substantial experience in benefits, compensation, and HR operations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of employment laws, HR compliance requirements, total rewards practices, HR administration, and effective service delivery.
  • Experience leading teams, managing projects, driving organizational change, and leading cross-functional initiatives; experience in a complex, multi-site, or multi-state environment is preferred.
  • Proficiency with HR information systems, workforce reporting and analytics, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong consultation, communication, analytical, problem-solving, project management, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, protect confidential information, build trusted relationships, and influence decisions at all levels of the organization.

Compensation (based on experience):
  • $120,000 - 160,000 annually

Physical Requirements:
  1. Ability to speak with others individually or in groups to gather and exchange information, present recommendations, or coordinate project-related matters.
  2. Ability to proofread and verify documents, budgets, schedules, regulatory submissions, and compliance-related materials.
  3. Ability to use a keyboard and computer systems to enter, retrieve, review, and audit information.
  4. Ability to travel by car or airplane for up to 10 - 15% of worktime to visit facilities, conduct focus groups, facilitate open enrollment meetings, coordinate projects, and meet with internal and external stakeholders.
  5. Sedentary Work. Exerts up to 10 pounds of force occasionally.
