Job Description:

The Senior Human Resources Business Partner (Sr. HRBP) serves as a trusted strategic advisor to the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), partnering with commercial leadership to align people strategies with business objectives that drive commercial growth, organizational effectiveness, and employee engagement.

The Sr. HRBP acts as the primary HR leader for the Commercial organization, translating business priorities into people strategies while ensuring consistent application of enterprise HR initiatives. The role collaborates closely with Talent Acquisition, Learning & Development, Total Rewards, Employee Relations, HR Operations, and other HR Centers of Excellence to deliver integrated solutions that enhance organizational performance.

Essential Job Functions

Strategic Business Partnership
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to the Commercial leadership team, providing counsel on organizational design, workforce planning, and talent strategy.
  • Partner with the Chief Commercial Officer to understand business priorities and develop HR strategies that enable growth, operational excellence, and organizational agility.
  • Translate business needs into actionable people plans supported by HR programs, processes, and Centers of Excellence.
  • Use workforce analytics and business insights to recommend talent strategies that improve organizational performance.

HR Strategy Alignment
  • Champion the execution of enterprise HR strategies across the Commercial organization.
  • Ensure business decisions align with organizational values, culture, compliance requirements, and talent philosophy.
  • Partner with the Vice President of Talent Management to implement enterprise talent initiatives while adapting them to meet business needs.

Performance & Employee Experience
  • Guide leaders through performance management processes that foster accountability, development, and recognition.
  • Partner with Employee Relations to coach managers on conflict resolution, performance improvement, and difficult employment decisions.
  • Promote an inclusive, high-performing culture that supports employee engagement, retention, and career growth.

Partnership with HR Centers of Excellence

Collaborate closely with HR Centers of Excellence to ensure seamless delivery of HR services, including:
  • Talent Acquisition on recruiting strategies.
  • Talent Management on succession planning, leadership development, and learning initiatives.
  • Compensation and Total Rewards on market competitiveness, pay decisions, and incentive programs.
  • Employee Relations on policy interpretation, investigations, and risk mitigation.
  • HR Operations to improve processes, employee experience, and operational efficiency.
  • Serve as the voice of the business by providing feedback that informs enterprise HR programs, policies, and processes.

Change Leadership
  • Lead the people strategy for organizational transformation initiatives.
  • Develop change management plans that improve adoption and minimize disruption.
  • Coach leaders through organizational change while maintaining employee engagement and business continuity.

Compliance & Risk Management
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies.
  • Mitigate organizational risk through sound HR practices and proactive guidance.
  • Maintain confidentiality while exercising sound judgment on sensitive employee matters.


Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field required
  • Advanced degree, e.g. MSHR, MBA, preferred
  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification or Society of Human Resources Manager Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) preferred
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressive HR Business Partner experience, preferably in the life sciences industry
  • Experience supporting a commercial organization in life sciences a plus
  • Experience with Workday a plus
  • Excellent computer skills required including Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and PowerPoint required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and project management skills
  • Strong interpersonal organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks with strong attention to detail in a business with changing priorities
  • Must be able to handle highly sensitive and confidential information


Working Conditions
  • This is a hybrid position based in Xeris' Chicago office and a minimum of three days per week on-site is required. On-site requirement may change at management's discretion.
  • Position may require periodic evening and weekend work, as necessary to fulfill obligations.
  • Periodic overnight travel required.

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $281,000 - $337,200.

We are committed to offering competitive compensation. Starting pay is determined based on a variety of factors, including the role, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, education, internal equity, market data, and the location of the role, where applicable.

The level of the position will be determined based on the selected candidate's qualifications and experience. Final determination of the actual base salary offered depends on several factors, including but not limited to the candidate's skills, experience, education, location, and business needs. Employees are eligible for equity or long-term incentive awards, where applicable. Field Sales role employees are eligible for a quarterly commission structure. Non-Sales role employees are eligible for an annual bonus. The Company also offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes additional elements such as paid time off benefits, various health, vision, and dental insurance options, 401(k) retirement benefits and more for eligible employees. Details about these and other offerings will be provided at the time a conditional offer of employment is made.
