Location: Calgary, AB or Toronto, ONVacancy Status: New RoleSalary Range: $140,000 - $165,000/yrThe OpportunityWe are seeking a Senior Human Resources Business Partner (Sr. HRBP) to join our People team. This role partners closely with leaders across the firm to support talent priorities, strengthen organizational effectiveness, and help implement key people programs that enable long-term performance and continuity.
This is a senior partnership role suited to someone who brings both strong judgment and practical execution capability, and who is comfortable working across strategy and implementation in a collaborative environment.
As a Sr. HRBP, you will work directly with leaders across the organization to support workforce planning, performance and development practices, succession readiness, and compensation alignment. You will also help shape and implement firm-level people initiatives that strengthen leadership capability and organizational effectiveness over time.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building trusted relationships, working through complex people topics thoughtfully, and contributing to meaningful improvements in how organizations support performance and growth.
Role ResponsibilitiesLeadership Partnership- Act as a trusted advisor to leaders on organizational effectiveness, talent decisions, and team development
- Support workforce planning and organizational structure discussions
- Provide guidance on performance conversations and employee development
- Help leaders navigate complex people situations with sound judgment and consistency
Talent and Performance Practices- Contribute to the design and implementation of performance management approaches that support clarity, differentiation, and development
- Support leaders in strengthening feedback practices and development planning
- Help ensure consistency in how performance expectations are applied across teams
Succession and Development- Support leaders in identifying successors for critical roles
- Coordinate development planning for identified successors
- Help maintain succession tracking infrastructure and program continuity
- Partner on initiatives that strengthen leadership depth across the organization
Compensation and Talent Alignment- Support leaders through compensation-related discussions and changes
- Help ensure alignment between performance expectations and talent outcomes
- Contribute to the implementation of compensation-related programs and practices
Firm-wide People Initiatives- Support delivery of cross-firm people priorities, including learning and development initiatives
- Contribute to strengthening talent infrastructure across performance, development, and succession practices
- Partner with colleagues across People & Premises to ensure coordinated implementation
Desired Qualifications- Undergraduate degree required
- CPHR (or equivalent designation) is an asset
- approximately 10-15+ years of progressive HR experience
- strong experience in a senior HR business partner role
- demonstrated success supporting senior leaders through organizational and talent-related decisions
- experience contributing to performance management and leadership development practices
- experience supporting succession planning or leadership pipeline initiatives
- experience implementing firm-wide people programs or infrastructure
- strong judgment and discretion in complex people situations
- comfort working across both strategy and execution
Experience in financial services, professional services, or similar knowledge-intensive environment is an asset.
