Role description:

Arcadis is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Heavy Construction Estimator to support one of the most iconic and consequential infrastructure initiatives in the United States - the Gateway Hudson Tunnel Project (HTP).

We are working in partnership with Parsons and Mace as part of the MPA Delivery Partner team, selected by the Gateway Development Commission to deliver this transformative project. The HTP is a critical component of the broader Gateway Program - one of the most ambitious and impactful transportation initiatives in the nation - and is designed to strengthen mobility, enhance resiliency, and ensure the long-term reliability of the Northeast Corridor.

The project encompasses the construction of a new, two-track rail tunnel beneath the Hudson River, along with the full rehabilitation of the existing 113-year-old North River Tunnel. This vital infrastructure supports more than 200,000 daily passengers via Amtrak and NJ TRANSIT and serves as a backbone for economic activity and connectivity between New York and New Jersey.

Role accountabilities:
  • Take on a leadership role in cost estimating by utilizing financial acumen, strategic thinking, and effective communication to manage cost analysis, develop accurate estimates, and guide team members. This leadership ensures projects are delivered within budget and on schedule, contributing to the organization's overall success.
  • Leverage expertise in project controls, including cost and schedule management methodologies, specific to the transit sector.
  • Collaborate with program estimators and the cost estimating team to deliver precise cost estimates for various transit program components, including civil, structural, architectural, electrical, mechanical, track, utilities, maintenance and storage facilities, signal and communication systems, bus depot facilities, and wayside power facilities.
  • Provide updates and progress of program/project directly to the Program Controls Manager.

Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • 15 years of experience in estimating public construction projects.
  • Proficiency in cost estimating methodologies and techniques related to construction.

Key Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of New York City construction trade unions rates and rules.
  • Experience in preparing detailed cost estimates for MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing), civil, structural, or architectural construction projects.
  • Strong ability to produce high-quality materials within tight timeframes and manage multiple assignments simultaneously.

We offer nine paid holidays and 20 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $210,000- $260,000. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
