At HDR, you'll be part of an integrated health practice, connected to a global network of healthcare planning and design experts-offering you the opportunity to both contribute to and learn from a broader community of thought leaders driving excellence and innovation in healthcare.

You will help guide the development of clinical workflows, space programs, and planning strategies that directly impact the quality-of-care delivery.

You'll have the opportunity to grow your expertise, contribute to an inclusive, collaborative culture, and support HDR's mission to design smarter, more resilient healthcare systems for the future.

In the role of Senior Health Planner, we'll count on you to:

  • Lead and contribute to the clinical planning of healthcare facilities across our projects of varying scales in Western Canada
  • Engage with clinical stakeholders, health authorities, and project teams to develop functional programs and evidence-based planning solutions
  • Analyze operational models and patient flows to inform space planning and support efficient, safe, and patient-centered care environments
  • Collaborate with architects, designers, engineers, and project managers throughout all project phases, from early planning through design and delivery
  • Navigate local health authority guidelines, regulatory requirements, and best practices in healthcare delivery in British Columbia
  • Support strategic and master planning efforts, including feasibility studies and scenario testing for new or renovated health facilities
  • Participate in client and stakeholder meetings, clearly communicating planning concepts and facilitating user engagement sessions

  • Demonstrated experience in clinical planning across a wide range of departments in acute care healthcare facilities-including inpatient units, ICUs, emergency departments, operating rooms, MDRDs, Pharmacy, Clinical laboratories, and others-with strong knowledge of local health authority standards and best practices for these spaces
  • Interest and/or experience in sustainable and wellness-focused healthcare design, including familiarity with LEED and net-zero strategies
  • Working knowledge of CSA Z8000:18 (R2023) Canadian health care facilities
  • WELL Accredited Professional (WELL AP) and/or Evidence-Based Design Accreditation and Certification (EDAC) credentials considered strong assets
