Responsibilities

  • Manage small to medium multidiscipline projects, ensuring adherence to budget, schedule, and quality control standards.
  • Draft and review proposals and project reports.
  • Evaluate geological conditions and geotechnical characteristics for foundation and structure design.
  • Plan and supervise geotechnical investigations.
  • Conduct dam safety reviews and remediation designs.
  • Perform slope stability assessments and complete corresponding designs.
  • Conduct seismic assessments and analyze field data, preparing detailed reports.

Full Job Description
The Opportunity:

Tetra Tech is adding a Senior Geotechnical Dam Safety Engineer to our Western Canada Dam Engineering team based in Calgary, AB. This role will support dam engineering and traditional geotechnical projects. Projects will be related to dam safety management, dam stability evaluations, investigation and instrumentation programs, design and construction monitoring and mine site reclamation.

Your Role:
  • Project management of small and medium multidiscipline projects including budget, schedule and quality control.
  • Proposal and project report writing and review.
  • Evaluating geologic conditions and geotechnical characteristics for assessment and design of shallow and deep foundations, retaining structures and earth structures.
  • Planning and supervising geotechnical investigations.
  • Conducting dam safety reviews and completing remediation designs.
  • Conducting or review of slope stability and embankment assessments and completing designs.
  • Conducting seismic assessments.
  • Analyzing field data and preparing detailed engineering reports and recommendations.
  • Communicating with clients and sub-consultants and internal stakeholders.
  • Supervising and reviewing construction monitoring activities for various projects.
  • Periodic travel, including overnight stays, to project sites to oversee field investigations, construction QA/QC activities, audits, or other activities will be required.
  • Collaborating as a team member and mentoring junior staff.
  • Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
  • Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
  • Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.
  • Additional duties as required.


Qualifications:
  • Minimum undergraduate degree in Civil, Geotechnical, Geological Engineering or similar.
  • 10-20 years of experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written).
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, GeoStudio 2007 Products and MS Office.
  • Good time management skills, the ability to work with minimal supervision and the ability to contribute to the project by being a team player.
  • Travel will be required in this position. Must be physically capable of performing the required field duties.
  • Must possess a valid BC Class 5 driver's license (or equivalent).
  • Eligible for registration as an EGBC and APEGA Professional Engineer.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada without sponsorship.
