Position summary:
Provide technical engineering support to the Power Generation Department to ensure safe reliable operations. Monitor, evaluate and take corrective action on plant electrical, control functions and mechanical systems.
Pay Range: $97,150 - $160,150 / Grade 17 (This posting includes the full pay range for this position. Pay is based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity.)
Reporting Relationship: Manager, Generation Engineering
Location: Pueblo, Colorado or Cheyenne, Wyoming

Essential Functions:
• Manage and support assigned projects including scope, plan, specify, and direct work.
• Work Directly with Project Managers to supply existing, receive new, modify, and update project files as part of a management of change process.
• Evaluates maintenance procedures, documents updates and supports training staff based on necessary changes and upgrades.
• Evaluates and leads performance testing and tuning of plant's boiler, turbine, AQCS and ancillary equipment.
• Supports testing of reagents and/or other products for improving environmental compliance, safety, and reliability.
• Prepare and review plant procedures and system descriptions as assigned. Specify training for employees on plant electrical operating and maintenance tasks related to assigned projects.
• Assist in budget preparation for assigned areas of capital, maintenance and operation activities.
• Project management from conception to completion on capital and O&M projects.
• Coordinates processes and procedures as required by RCM.
Additional Responsibilities:
• Ability to interface effectively with consultants, contractors, internal resources, and state/local government agencies.
• Must be willing to work in a team environment or individually. Will work closely with Operations and Maintenance Departments. Will be key player in identifying capital project work for Engineering Department.
• Maintains a successful partnership with Generation Dispatch, Reliability Center to meet business goals and expectations.
What Is Required:
• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Controls, Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Minimum of 4 years of experience with power generation projects and DCS systems.
• This position requires driving responsibilities. You must hold and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record that meets company and insurer standards.
• This role will be required to travel up to 10% of the time.
What Is Desired:
• Knowledge of basic principles of power generation (specifically coal-fired steam turbine generation units), engineering, system control principles and instrumentation.
• Understanding of mechanical and electrical systems.
• Understanding of administration, accounting principles, and project management.
• Proficient computer skills including experience with MS Office Suite, AutoCAD, CMMS (EAM) or similar, PI, and PeopleSoft.
• Good interpersonal skills, both oral and written.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings.
