Full Job Description
The Role:

The Senior Forensic Consultant - Premises Liability is responsible for conducting forensic investigations, evaluating incident causation, and providing expert analysis related to premises liability matters. This includes slip, trip, and fall incidents, walkway safety evaluations, hazard identification, human factors assessments, accident reconstruction, and related litigation support services.

This role is ideal for an experienced forensic consultant, engineer, safety professional, biomechanical expert, or human factors specialist who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and communicating findings to clients, attorneys, insurance carriers, and other stakeholders. Successful candidates bring strong investigative and analytical skills, experience providing expert opinions, and the ability to develop and maintain client relationships in a consulting environment.

The ideal candidate possesses both technical expertise and business development acumen, including an established professional network and a demonstrated ability to generate new opportunities through client relationships, presentations, and industry engagement.

This is a remote role with significant travel requirements. To best support client needs and business development efforts, we are seeking candidates located in or near the following metropolitan areas: Denver, Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Phoenix, Boston, or Houston. Candidates should expect to travel approximately 50% or more based on client and project needs.

In This Role, You Will:
  • Conduct forensic investigations involving premises liability claims and litigation matters
  • Evaluate site conditions, building features, maintenance practices, and environmental factors related to incident causation
  • Perform and oversee site inspections, scene documentation, and evidence collection
  • Analyze slip, trip, and fall incidents and develop technical opinions regarding causation and liability
  • Conduct walkway friction testing and slip resistance evaluations
  • Research and apply relevant building codes, safety regulations, standards, ordinances, and industry best practices
  • Utilize 3D scanning, photogrammetry, and other forensic technologies to document and analyze incident locations
  • Perform hazard identification and risk assessments
  • Conduct human factors evaluations and accident reconstruction analyses when applicable
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and expert witness materials
  • Provide deposition and trial testimony as an expert witness
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across engineering, biomechanics, safety, and forensic disciplines
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through exceptional service and technical expertise
  • Deliver presentations, educational seminars, and thought leadership content to clients and industry groups
  • Support business development initiatives through networking, marketing, and industry involvement
  • Contribute to the growth of YA Group's forensic consulting practice

What You Bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Biomechanics, Safety Sciences, Human Factors, Occupational Safety, or a related technical discipline
  • 4+ years of experience conducting premises liability investigations, forensic consulting, safety analysis, accident reconstruction, or related work
  • Experience evaluating building codes, regulations, ordinances, standards, and safety practices
  • Experience conducting slip, trip, and fall investigations and developing technical opinions regarding causation and liability
  • Experience with walkway friction testing and slip resistance evaluations
  • Experience conducting hazard identification, risk assessments, and human factors analyses
  • Experience utilizing 3D scanning, photogrammetry, or similar forensic documentation technologies
  • Experience preparing expert reports and communicating technical findings to attorneys, insurance carriers, clients, and other stakeholders
  • Prior deposition and/or trial testimony experience
  • Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and client-facing communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to present to clients, industry organizations, and referral sources
  • Established relationships within the legal, insurance, risk management, engineering, or forensic consulting industries
  • Proven history of business development, client retention, and consulting practice growth
  • Existing book of business or transferable client relationships
  • Self-starter with the ability to independently manage projects, clients, and business development activities
  • Professional Engineer (PE), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.), or other relevant professional credential strongly preferred

The pay range for this role is:

$150,000 - 225,000 USD per year (Remote - United States)
