Job Description:This is an in-office position located in Grand Rapids, MI. Starting salary between $90,000.00 - $95,000.00 annually. A day-in-the-life of a Fleet Manager:
Our Fleet Managers oversee towing operations on a twenty-four (24) basis to ensure prompt, efficient and courteous towing, recovery and emergency roadside service to all customers, clients, AAA and affiliated Club members. As a Fleet Manager, you will also lead a team of Fleet Supervisors, Dispatchers and Drivers to ensure timely completion of daily tasks.
In this role, you will also have the opportunity to:
- Increase revenue by servicing existing clients and expand base of commercial towing accounts
- Analyze and resolve member complaints concerning driver performance
- Investigate and mediate damage claims
- Monitor equipment repair or replacement, including the ordering of supplies and verifying payment for all supplies
- Monitor incentive bonus programs, including compiling data and preparing reports on program performance
- Update maintenance files, as regulations and rules change, to ensure compliance with Local, State & Federal requirements
- Interview and hire new employees to join the Fleet team for assigned locations

We are looking for candidates who:
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
Experience
- Automotive industry and/or emergency roadside service background
- Knowledge of towing procedures, vehicle and equipment maintenance
- Supervisory ability to include: scheduling, staffing, budgeting, decision making, analysis and problem solving, evaluating employee work performance
- Ability to interpret contract and bid documents, in addition to contract negotiation skills
Certifications / Licensure
- Valid state driver's license and excellent driving record without physical restrictions that would prevent driving during day or night hours or for extended periods of time
- Must successfully pass DOT physical / certification process
Preferred Qualifications
- College level coursework in Business Administration or a related field
- Prior Management experience
- Experience with operating towing equipment
Work Environment Works in a temperature controlled office environment with exposure to slightly dirty conditions. Occasional (up to 30% of work time) exposure to temperature extremes.
Must be able to stand/walk, climb/stoop/kneel and lift/push/pull; in order to inspect vehicles and equipment
