Overview

We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Financial Analyst - Operationsat our Corporate Headquarters in Lake Forest, IL.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Financial Analyst - Operations, you will play a key role in driving financial accuracy, transparency, and insight across product costing, manufacturing cost, inventory management, and profitability analysis. You will collaborate closely with teams in Operations, Supply Chain, Marketing, and FP&A to ensure product costs are accurately captured in SAP, analyzed for financial impact, and clearly communicated. This role is also integral to the customer bid process and provides analytical support for strategic and operational decision-making. Overall, the role will provide exposure to one of our company's most diverse portfolio of products, getting the chance to assist on key projects and exposure to the leadership team.

Financial Analysis & Costing
  • Own and manage product costing processes in SAP, including standard cost updates, cost rollups, and variance analysis
  • Analyze P&L and balance sheet impacts of product cost changes, focusing on margin, inventory valuation, and cost of goods sold
  • Prepare and interpret inventory and scrap reports, identifying trends, risks, and performance improvement opportunities
  • Support month-end and year-end close activities related to inventory, costing, and manufacturing variances including telling the financial story for our business unit's operational performance
  • Conduct ad hoc financial analyses and modeling to support strategic and operational decisions

Reporting & Business Intelligence
  • Develop and enhance BI reports and dashboards that provide visibility into costing, inventory, and operational performance metrics
  • Identify and implement reporting, analysis, and workflow automation improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy

Cross-Functional Partnership
  • Partner with cross-functional teams: Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, FP&A, and Marketing-to understand cost drivers, support new product introductions, enable competitive bids, and lead cost reduction initiatives

Controls, Data Integrity & Process Improvement
  • Maintain robust data integrity, process controls, and documentation for all costing and inventory processes

Qualifications

Education/Experience

Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
  • 4+ years of progressive experience in manufacturing finance, operations finance, or cost accounting with preference given to consumer packaged goods experience.

Preferred
  • Prior supervisory experience
  • Leadership experience with a consumer manufacturing company

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Product costing: Ability to interpret product specifications, identify cost comparables, and assess contribution margin and operational impact
    • Standards updates: Experience rolling standards in SAP, ensuring BOM accuracy, and monitoring component price changes
    • Cost variance analysis: Skilled in analyzing material, labor, overhead, and absorption variances
  • Working knowledge of:
    • Standard and absorption costing principles as they apply to manufacturing P&Ls
    • Inventory accounting, valuation, and manufacturing close processes
  • Advanced Excel proficiency, including complex formulas, pivot tables, Power Query, and financial modeling for product costing and operational analysis
  • Proficiency with Power BI (or similar BI tools), with experience building automated dashboards and analyzing large manufacturing and inventory data sets
  • Proven ability to drive process improvements by:
    • Streamlining financial and operational reporting
    • Enhancing inventory accuracy and close efficiency
    • Automating manual tasks and reinforcing internal controls
  • Hands-on experience with SAP S/4HANA (S4), particularly in manufacturing, costing, and inventory management; demonstrated ability to collaborate with IT and operations to ensure data integrity and system enhancements
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, NetSuite, or similar), with a strong preference for SAP-based environments
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights for leadership and cross-functional teams
