Your Role The Financial Analyst, Regulatory Finance provides essential operational, analytical, and compliance support to the Manager of Finance, Regulatory, ensuring the delivery of accurate, consistent, and timely financial data for tax and regulatory reporting across North America. This role strengthens the regulatory finance function through disciplined data preparation, reconciliations, process controls, and cross-functional coordination with the SSC, Corporate Tax, and North America legal entities. The analyst ensures high-quality financial outputs that uphold Brenntag's compliance standards and support the Manager of Finance in maintaining a controlled, audit-ready environment.
Responsibilities Regulatory Finance Support- Prepare and validate financial data required for sales tax, use tax, excise tax, property tax, income tax support, unclaimed property, and other regulatory filings.
- Perform recurring reconciliations and data validations to ensure completeness and accuracy of regulatory data sets.
- Partner with the SSC and Corporate Tax to resolve data issues and support timely regulatory submissions.
- Provide financial data and documentation to third-party compliance partners.
Process Standardization & Controls- Maintain standard templates, coding structures, and data tools used in regulatory finance reporting.
- Support implementation and monitoring of financial controls related to tax and regulatory data processes.
- Contribute documentation of regulatory finance processes and participate in control testing activities.
- Ensure consistent application of Group Finance guidelines through disciplined data handling and documentation.
- Maintaining evidence packages for tax audits, regulatory reviews, and internal controls.
Cross-Functional Coordination- Collaborate with North America legal entities, operational finance, and commercial teams to gather, validate, and correct financial data required for regulatory reporting.
- Support internal, external, and tax-related audit requests through structured data collection, documentation, and analysis.
- Coordinate business license, permit, and registration-related data needs.
- Serve as a reliable operational liaison supporting the Manager Finance in cross-functional communication.
Finance Transformation & Continuous Improvement- Support process improvement and automation initiatives within the Regulatory Finance function.
- Contribute to system readiness, data standardization, and alignment with evolving shared service and transformation programs.
- Assist in developing KPIs, dashboards, and tracking tools that enhance regulatory finance performance and data quality.
Additional Responsibilities- Provide training or guidance to stakeholders on proper coding, documentation, and data requirements.
- Support other finance or regulatory tasks as assigned by the Manager Finance, Regulatory.
Your Profile Skills - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 1-3 years of experience in accounting, financial analysis, or finance operations.
- Familiarity with tax-related financial data (sales/use tax, exercise, property tax, etc.) is helpful but not required.
- Strong Excel skills and experience working with ERP systems; exposure to tax engines or reporting tools is a plus.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment with multiple stakeholders.
Education / Experience:- Experience supporting finance or tax operations within a multi-entity or shared-services environment.
- Exposure to data governance or process standardization activities.
- Experience with tools such as Power BI, Qlik, OneStream, Vertex, or Avalara.
- Ability to identify inefficiencies and propose automation or simplification opportunities.
- Experience using workflow tools, macros, or BI dashboards to streamline reporting.
- Understanding of data governance principles (data lineage, ownership, quality rules).
- Ability to troubleshoot data flow issues across ERP, tax engines, and reporting tools.
- Familiarity with master data structures (GL, product taxability, customer tax profiles).
- Ability to communicate clearly with SSC, Corporate Tax, legal entities, and commercial teams.
- Skilled in translating technical data requirements into clear instructions for non-finance stakeholders.
- Ability to produce ready documentation with clear narratives, version control, and traceability. Ability to analyze regulatory data patterns and proactively flag inconsistencies or risk indicators.
- Understanding of how tax rules impact financial data structures and reporting logic.
