JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Opportunity

This position is based in Menlo Park, California, within Abbott's Structural Heart Division, providing dedicated financial support to the Menlo Park manufacturing site.

The Senior Financial Analyst will play a key role in supporting manufacturing operations through financial planning, forecasting, standard costing, reporting, and business partnership. This individual will collaborate closely with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Finance leadership to drive financial performance, improve decision-making, and support cost optimization initiatives.

Our business purpose is to restore health and improve quality of life by designing and providing device and management solutions for treating structural heart disease.

What You'll Work On
  • Support financial analysis for Menlo Park Operations by partnering with Finance leadership, Plant Controller, Operations, Supply Chain, and Engineering teams.
  • Prepare and support forecasting processes, including Annual Plans, Latest Best Estimates (LBEs), standard cost setup, and long-range planning activities.
  • Manage month-end close activities, including journal entries, actual reporting, account reconciliations, and variance analysis against forecasts and plans.
  • Analyze manufacturing variances, including purchase price variance (PPV), labor, overhead, inventory, and absorption performance.
  • Monitor manufacturing cost performance and identify risks, opportunities, and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Support standard cost development, maintenance, and annual cost roll processes while ensuring accurate costing methodologies.
  • Partner with Operations and Supply Chain teams to evaluate the financial impact of production volume changes, material costs, sourcing decisions, and process improvements.
  • Coordinate audit and tax support requests in collaboration with Accounting and Finance leadership.
  • Create and maintain financial models, dashboards, reporting tools, and performance metrics to support business decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, financial policies, and governance requirements.
  • Effectively manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4+ years of experience in financial planning and analysis, cost accounting, manufacturing finance, or a related finance function.
  • Experience with month-end close, variance analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Strong financial modeling, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to tailor messages to different audiences.
  • Quick learner with demonstrated adaptability in changing business environments.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting manufacturing operations, cost accounting, or plant finance functions.
  • Strong understanding of standard costing methodologies, inventory accounting, and manufacturing variance analysis.
  • Experience analyzing PPV, labor, overhead, inventory, and production-related financial metrics.
  • Proficiency with SAP ERP and Dodeca Planning System.
  • Experience with Power BI, Tableau, Power Query, or other analytics and visualization tools.


The base pay for this position is
$90,000.00 - $180,000.00
