JOB SUMMARY

Salary range: $90,000 - $100,000 annually.

The Senior Financial Accountant is responsible for the month-end close, financial reporting, and accounting for multiple assigned corporate business units, ensuring financial statements are accurate and in compliance with US GAAP and company accounting policies. This role serves as a key accounting contact for business unit leadership, manages accounting processes, reviews supporting work, and supports consistent, high-quality financial reporting across the organization in accordance with Holland Partner Group's Core Values. This individual works independently with moderate decision-making authority.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Manage the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of monthly financial reporting for assigned business units, including required schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
  • Maintain ownership of balance sheet accounts for assigned business units, ensuring timely reconciliations, issue resolution, and documentation.
  • Review Financial Staff Accountant's work for accuracy in accounts receivable, accounts payable, account reconciliations, cost allocations, intercompany invoicing and general ledger postings.
  • Manage revenue recognition and expense allocations to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with US GAAP and company accounting policies.
  • Act as the primary accounting liaison for corporate business leaders, delivering timely financial insights and preparing specific and ad hoc reports to support decision-making.
  • Provide accounting support for financial planning activities by reviewing forecasts for alignment with accounting standards and assisting with variance explanations for revenue and expenses by providing accurate, complete, and timely actual financial data.
  • Prepare, review, and analyze cash sources and uses for assigned business units, exercising judgment to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency with underlying accounting records and financial reporting.
  • Ensure state and local tax compliance on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Assist with annual audit and tax preparation and respond to auditor and tax inquiries.
  • Support the execution and testing of accounting controls and documentation in coordination with Tax and Compliance, researching and resolving any accounting issues impacting underlying records.
  • Perform ad hoc accounting analysis related to historical results, reporting accuracy, and transactional support.
  • Represent Holland Partner Group in a professional manner at all times.
  • Perform all other duties as directed and assist the overall team effort.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or related field required. Professional certification (CPA) preferred. Six (6) years of experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's degree.

Experience: Minimum four (4) years' experience in accounting required. Previous experience in corporate, development, or construction accounting strongly preferred. Professional certification (CPA) may be considered in lieu of some experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
  • Thorough understanding of basic accounting principles (i.e., journal entries, debits, credits, etc.).
  • Ability to accurately perform multiple tasks in a complex and fast-paced operating environment and meet deadlines through effective time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Ability to accurately work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365; Experience with Yardi preferred.

Attendance: This full-time position is exempt and requires the ability to be present and available during business hours to meet company and department needs. Additional hours or flexible schedule may be required.

This position also requires:
  • Ability to lift or move up to twenty (20) pounds.
  • Hearing and visual ability to observe and detect signs of emergency situations.
  • Fluency in English both verbally and non-verbally.
