We are looking for a Senior Field Support Engineer to join our Robotics, AI and Unmanned Systems vertical. You will support a rotating mix of client and internal projects - sometimes a different project every day, sometimes weeks of deep work on a single substantial test campaign. No two weeks look the same. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, Smart Mobility and Connectivity, you will work alongside field support engineers from other verticals as projects demand.

- Hiring Salary Range: $76,000 - $104,500

- This position will be required to work onsite at Area X.O
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
- Operate track equipment including NCAP VRU targets and foldable vehicles to support autonomous vehicle, ADAS, and collision avoidance validation.
- Mount and integrate cameras, LiDAR, radar, and other sensors on infrastructure and coordinate vehicle and pedestrian runs to validate detection performance and computer vision outputs.
- Measure and report network KPIs across Wi-Fi, 5G, V2X, and wired environments in support of connected and autonomous system trials.
- Contribute custom engineering and automation solutions that upgrade test infrastructure and showcase Area X.O's capabilities.
- Provide hands-on support for drone, counter-UAV, and unmanned ground and aerial vehicle projects, with cross-vertical exposure to smart farm and defence work as opportunities arise.
- Support visiting clients running AI, robotics, and unmanned systems demonstrations, ensuring stable power, reliable connectivity, and a smooth on-site experience.
WHAT YOU HAVE ACCOMPLISHED/GAINED THROUGHOUT YOUR CAREER :
- Diploma or degree in Engineering (Electrical, Robotics, Mechatronics, Computer, or Mechanical), Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
- 5 or more years in a hands-on technical field engineering role. Exceptional candidates with 3 to 5 years and strong technical breadth will be considered.
- Strong Python scripting skills and comfort with at least one other scripting language.
- Working knowledge of network protocols (TCP/UDP) and ability to configure switches and routers.
- Familiarity with robotics or autonomous systems testing workflows such as ROS/ROS2 or equivalent frameworks.
- Ability to engage in client-facing interactions and provide technical support as needed.
- Working understanding of LiDAR, radar, cameras, and wireless technologies, with depth in at least one area.
- Solid Linux fundamentals including administration, troubleshooting, and scripting.
You will stand out if you also bring any of the following:
- Hands-on experience with ROS/ROS2 or AI/ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or OpenCV.
- P.Eng certification or working toward it.
- Experience with simulation tools such as CARLA, SUMO, MATLAB/Simulink, or CST Studio.
- Skills in C/C++, embedded systems, CAD design, 3D printing, CNC machining, or pick-and-place systems.
- Hands-on experience with 5G/V2X platforms or drone (RPAS) certification.
