Job Description
Virginia Tech's (VT) Fralin Biomedical Research Institute (FBRI) is recruiting for an exceptional investigator in cancer research at the level of Professor or Associate Professor.
The successful candidate will have a strong record of independently funded basic or translational cancer research, along with demonstrated commitment to faculty mentorship. This new position is part of a major research initiative by VT and will be located at the university's health sciences and technology campus in Roanoke, VA ( https://fbri.vtc.vt.edu/ ). Cancer research faculty at the Roanoke campus have particular interest in bioengineering, biomaterials, exosome biology, focused ultrasound, radiation oncology, theranostics, tumor microenvironment, and neuro-oncology.
Applicants should have an earned doctorate (PhD, MD, and/or DVM), postdoctoral research experience, at least five years of independent research experience as faculty or equivalent, a record of accomplishment and research productivity through high-quality publications, with sustained and current extramural funding. The successful candidate will primarily be expected to maintain a high-quality, extramurally-funded cancer research program. They will also have the opportunity to participate in some teaching of graduate students and to serve as a research mentor for VT graduate, medical and undergraduate students. Appropriately qualified candidates may additionally be considered for the role of deputy director of the FBRI Cancer Research Center in Roanoke.
