Overview

 

Serves as the lead Expediting representative on major projects involving high-value, technically complex, or critical equipment and material packages. Responsible for planning, scheduling, coordinating, and overseeing all expediting activities to support project objectives and delivery requirements.

 

This role requires advanced knowledge and full competency in all conventional phases of expediting, including the ability to independently plan and execute assignments requiring sound judgment in the evaluation, selection, adaptation, and modification of standard expediting methods, procedures, and criteria.

 

Independently manages a broad range of expediting responsibilities throughout the life cycle of purchase orders, monitoring supplier progress to ensure compliance with contractual delivery commitments and project schedules. Maintains a comprehensive understanding of logistics coordination and proactively identifies and resolves issues that may impact fabrication, manufacturing, delivery, or overall project execution.

 

Acts as the lead Expeditor on larger and more complex projects involving critical materials, technically unique equipment, and high-value procurement activities, while supporting cost control, schedule performance, operational efficiency, and overall project success.

 

Responsibilities

 

The following responsibilities are intended as general illustrations of the work in this job class; however, are not all-inclusive for this position:

  • Develops project work-hour forecasts and manpower estimates for expediting activities.
  • Establishes and maintains communication with suppliers to confirm delivery schedules for vendor data, materials, and equipment.
  • Prepares and updates expediting reports and project status documentation.
  • Determines the need for expediting visits to supplier, fabricator, or manufacturer facilities and obtains the appropriate approvals.
  • Performs site visits and supplier inspections as required; occasional to extensive travel may be required.
  • Attends project review meetings and provides updates on the status of material and equipment deliveries.
  • Reviews supplier fabrication and manufacturing schedules to assess schedule feasibility and identify potential risks or delays.
  • Consults with project management and construction personnel regarding the scheduling and rescheduling of materials and equipment to support construction priorities and project schedules.
  • Develops and utilizes multiple sources of information to validate supplier progress and improve the accuracy of vendor status reporting.
  • Investigates and resolves discrepancies related to delivered materials and equipment.
  • Evaluates supplier performance, responsiveness, and compliance with project requirements and delivery commitments.

 

Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years of work experience required with experience in expediting, procurement, or business administration duties preferred
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)

 

 

Education

  • High School Diploma (or equivalent) required
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Construction Management, or related field from an accredited college or university is preferred
