Position Summary

Reporting to the Senior Vice President/ COO, the Senior Executive of Health and Wellness manages the overall operations of the Association's health and wellness initiatives and programming, designed to promote wellness, reduce health risks and reclaim health. The Senior Executive of Health and Wellness supervises, develops and implements a full range of programming, services, partnerships, and community outreach to achieve strategic goals and provide outstanding service to all members, program participants and partners. This position provides direction, measurement and accountability to Association initiatives within the YMCA Health and Wellness framework, member/participant engagement strategies and member/participant retention strategies. The Senior Executive of Health and Wellness also provides advice and counsel to the Branches regarding health & wellness programming best practices. Considerable travel throughout the YMCA of the Suncoast service area is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent required; exercise physiology, health education, health behavior, public health or related field of study preferred. Master's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible experience in program management in wellness and/or public health required; YMCA experience preferred. Multiple program locations a plus.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible experience with staff management and supervision, fiscal management, program growth and retention, fund raising, and community relationship building required.
  • Demonstrated success in building strong partnerships effectively among a wide variety of stakeholders (physicians, public health officials, employers, community based organizations, and health seekers) to advance a common cause.
  • Experience consulting to worksite wellness programs and/or employer human resources/benefits teams preferred.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required.
  • Experience working in a multi-unit organization.
  • Strong writing, verbal and presentation skills.
  • Must meet YMCA of the Suncoast driving criteria.
  • Physical and mental requirements include considerable sitting, standing, written and verbal communication and a high level of regular concentration.
  • Y Organizational Leader preferred.


Essential Functions

High Quality Programs, Services and Facilities
  • Supervise, develop and implement a full range of health and wellness programming and services for all.
  • Develop and implement health and wellness programming strategy based on association strategic plan goals.
  • Work with branch leaders to ensure the execution of the association health and wellness strategies in the branches.
  • Meet and exceed member / participant satisfaction results and deliver high-value experience for members/health and wellness program participants
  • Serve as a key collaborator with local health care systems and medical providers to build / maintain partnerships and promote health and wellness programs.
  • Focus on driving connection, engagement and retention through specific goals for:
  • Healthy Living and Chronic Disease Program growth through specific monthly and annual goals
  • Member connection at point of sale to onboarding appointments
  • Drive retention by engaging members in high quality personal training programs that show measurable outcomes
  • Drive retention by engaging members in our prevention and reclaiming health programs
  • Focus on program quality through:
  • Launch of class offerings that meet participation goals in all programs
  • Member conversation of program participants
  • Development of partnerships and workforce wellness programs
  • Consistent, purposeful successful staff training and engagement that results in staff retention
  • Work in tandem with marketing & membership teams to coordinate all aspects of work
  • Track and report key health & wellness goals - group exercise attendance, evidence based program attendance, personal training, onboarding participation

Staff and Volunteer Management
  • Recruit, hire, supervise and develop department staff and volunteers through use of the Leadership Competency Model resources.
  • Provide support to recruitment, training, development and evaluation of Wellness Directors and Association Healthy Living staff, ensuring staff members are qualified and positioned to deliver an excellent Y experience.
  • Serve as "dotted line" supervision role to Branch Health and Wellness Directors to ensure standards, consistency, and program growth.
  • Lead Health & Wellness Design Team

Finance
  • Meet and exceed healthy living annual department budgets.
  • Meet and exceed annual association personal training budget.

Community Development
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships among a wide variety of stake holders (health systems, physicians, public health officials, employers, community based organizations, and health seekers) to advance a common cause.
  • Lead and develop association's Healthy Living board committee.

Financial Development
  • Incorporate storytelling in an effort to advance our mission and financial development efforts.
  • Collaborate on the identification of new funding opportunities for healthy living programs.
  • Collaborate to promote healthy living case for support in annual campaigns, and other association-wide events that promote the Y healthy living in the community.
