Senior Executive Director of School Leadership and Continuous Improvement

Department: Division of School Leadership and Continuous Improvement
Reports To: Chief of

Supervises: Executive Directors of Schools, School Improvement Specialists, Director of Professional Development, Director of Assessment and Accountability, and other assigned personnel.

FLSA Status: This position is exempt from overtime pay and is expected to fulfill job responsibilities as needed to meet organizational goals.

Terms of Employment: 12 months (240 Days)

Salary Range: $111,847.00-$132,446.00 (Salary Schedule CE)
Job Summary

The Senior Executive Director of School Leadership and Continuous Improvement provides strategic leadership, direction, and accountability for school performance while ensuring alignment with the district's vision, strategic plan, and priorities. Reporting directly to the Chief of Staff, this position leads the district's efforts related to school leadership, continuous improvement, professional learning, assessment, and accountability.

The Senior Executive Director develops and implements systems that strengthen principal effectiveness, improve student outcomes, build leadership capacity, and ensure schools receive coherent support and accountability. This position serves as the primary liaison between schools and district leadership to ensure the successful implementation of strategic initiatives and performance goals.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Educational Leadership, Administration, or related field
  • Valid Alabama Professional Educator Certification in Educational Leadership or eligible to obtain the certification
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of successful educational leadership experience
  • Minimum of three (3) years of successful experience as a principal
  • Demonstrated success in improving student achievement and school performance
Preferred Qualifications
  • Earned Doctorate in Educational Leadership or related field
  • Experience supervising principals or district leaders
  • Experience leading school improvement, accountability, and organizational change initiative
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provides leadership and oversight for school leadership, continuous improvement, professional development, and assessment and accountability functions.
  • Supervises Executive Directors of Schools, School Improvement Specialists, and assigned department leaders.
  • Develops and implements systems to monitor school performance, leadership effectiveness, and strategic goal attainment.
  • Leads principal development, coaching, evaluation, and succession planning efforts.
  • Oversees district professional learning systems to ensure alignment with instructional and leadership priorities.
  • Directs assessment and accountability processes, including data analysis, performance monitoring, and reporting.
  • Coordinates support and interventions for schools identified for improvement.
  • Monitors implementation of district initiatives and continuous improvement efforts across all schools.
  • Collaborates with district divisions to ensure coherent and aligned support for schools.
  • Advises the Chief of Staff on matters related to school performance, leadership development, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Represents the district at meetings, conferences, and community events as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Chief of Staff.
