The Senior Estimator will play a critical leadership role in our pre-construction process, responsible for developing, reviewing, and validating highly accurate and competitive cost estimates for complex electrical projects. This role involves advanced analysis of project blueprints, specifications, and contractual documents to produce comprehensive, strategic estimates that drive profitable project outcomes. The Senior Estimator will oversee estimating methodology, risk evaluation, and bid strategy while managing and mentoring a team of estimators. They will collaborate closely with executive leadership, operations, and cross-functional teams to align estimates with organizational goals, historical data, and market conditions. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in electrical estimating, exceptional judgment, and proven experience leading and developing high-performing estimating teams.
What You'll Do
Key Responsibilities:
Estimating: Lead and oversee the preparation of complete and highly accurate quantity take-offs, material pricing, labor, equipment, and indirect costs for complex and high-value projects. Establish estimating strategy and bid approach, including risk assessment, value engineering opportunities, and competitive positioning. Exercise advanced judgment in reviewing, analyzing, and interpreting bid documents to define scope, exclusions, and assumptions. Perform and validate on- and off-screen take-offs. Review, audit, and approve estimates prepared by other estimators to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to company standards. Prepare and approve all proposal deliverables including bid forms, labor sheets, schedules, and pre-qualifications. Uphold the highest level of integrity, ethics, and confidentiality with internal and external stakeholders.
Communication: Serve as a primary estimating point of contact for internal leadership, clients, and project stakeholders. Clearly and concisely communicate complex estimating concepts, risks, assumptions, and challenges in a professional and solution-oriented manner. Lead internal estimate reviews and bid strategy meetings, providing clear direction and alignment across teams.
Process & Compliance: Establish, maintain, and continuously improve estimating processes, standards, and best practices. Ensure accurate, complete, and auditable documentation of project plans, specifications, correspondence, quantity take-offs, pricing data, subcontractors, and suppliers. Ensure full compliance with company policies, procedures, and contractual requirements. Oversee CRM opportunities and ensure estimating data and project progress are consistently accurate and up to date.
Collaborative Leadership: Lead proposals from concept through final submission and transition to operations. Partner closely with project management, engineering, operations, and executive leadership to ensure estimates align with execution strategies and financial goals. Promote a culture of collaboration, accountability, and excellence across the organization. Serve as a trusted advisor and subject-matter expert on estimating strategy, risk, and market conditions. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders to support long-term business success.
Team Leadership: Directly manage, mentor, and develop a team of estimators. Assign work strategically based on project needs, estimator strengths, and development goals. Provide coaching, training, performance feedback, and career development guidance. Establish clear expectations, accountability, and performance standards for the estimating team. Foster employee engagement, continuous improvement, and a consistent, high-quality estimating function that delivers outstanding internal and external customer service.

- Advanced proficiency in Accubid Live Count, BlueBeam, CRM systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Expert knowledge of estimating techniques, metrics, systems, and best practices.
- Full working knowledge of estimating systems; Accubid strongly preferred.
- Ability to prepare and review highly complex proposals with minimal oversight.
- Ability to lead large-scale, complex estimating efforts from initial review through final cost estimate and handoff to operations.
- Comprehensive knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations, codes, and industry standards.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s degree in a relevant field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- 12+ years of experience in the construction industry with extensive electrical estimating experience
- Significant experience estimating large, complex, and/or high-risk projects
- Field experience strongly preferred
- Proven experience managing and leading an estimating team
What You'll Get
Working Conditions:
The majority of the time you will work in a typical office environment. Occasionally, you may travel to a construction job site. When on construction job sites you will encounter typical construction conditions including extreme temperatures, noise, dust, mud debris, welding, leading edge, trenching, and shoring, sometimes in a confined space. You may be required to visit multiple locations during any one day.

Salary Range:
$127,500 - $172,500
