Responsibilities

  • Prepare formal bids and accurate material and labor take-offs.
  • Compute labor, material, and shipping costs using Tekla Powerfab software.
  • Analyze and markup construction drawings with BlueBeam Revu.
  • Communicate with general contractors, trade partners, and vendors.
  • Coordinate project scoping, evaluate supplier/subcontractor proposals, and manage Change Order repricing.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Procurement, and Project Management on pricing and constructability reviews.
  • Develop new bid strategies and create budget proposals using projections and historical data.

Position Description

  • Position location: Topeka, Kansas City, Manhattan, Denver, or Dallas office.
  • Prepare formal bids and provide accurate material and labor take-offs
  • Utilize Tekla Powerfab software to compute labor, material, and shipping costs
  • Utilize BlueBeam Revu Software to analyze and markup construction drawings
  • Communicate intelligently with general contractors, trade partners and vendors
  • Coordinate project scoping elements and cost breakouts
  • Evaluate supplier/subcontractor proposals (Erection, Joist, Deck, Grating, Architectural Railings, etc.)
  • Assist in repricing of costs associated with Change Orders
  • Collaborate with Operations, Procurement, and Project Management to provide competitive pricing, constructability and coordination reviews of the project documents
  • Assist in developing new bid strategies
  • Create budget proposals using projections, experience, and historical data


Position Requirements

  • 7 years of experience in construction estimating required. Steel estimating preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to lead a project team and oversight required
  • Ability to identify risks and risk mitigation strategies
  • Knowledge of structural steel and miscellaneous metals preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret contract drawings and specifications required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
  • Strong Analytical and problem-solving skills required
  • Exceptional time management and prioritization skills required
