Full Job Description
Senior Estimator

A Senior Estimator position is available at Garney. In this position, you will ensure that the estimate includes the cost, time, materials, labor, and equipment required for the construction projects. You will also manage and plan projects through the design phase, including the tracking of documents and building a project plan. The Senior Estimator will work with their team to ensure efficient and continuous improvements in the estimating process.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Track labor, material, subcontractor, and equipment costs
  • Assist with schedules, scopes, logistics plans, and constructability reviews
  • Develop conceptual and detailed estimates, cost models, and self-perform estimates
  • Pursue opportunities that support annual gross margin goals
  • Manage bid documents and estimate development
  • Review and refine estimates for accuracy
  • Coordinate estimate planning, pricing, scheduling, and submissions
  • Support purchasing and subcontracting activities
  • Apply and train others on cost coding processes
  • Review contract documents and project requirements
  • Participate in DB, PDB, and CMAR pursuits, proposals, and interviews
  • Support value engineering, cost analysis, and documentation
  • Review drawings, specifications, and project information
  • Assist with project selection and bidding strategies
  • Assign estimating tasks and validate final estimate inputs
  • Lead estimating efforts on multiple projects simultaneously


WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • 5-8 years of Estimating experience
  • Experience with proposal types in various stages involving the design build, progressive design build, negotiated and CMAR projects
  • Thorough understanding of bonds, insurance, burden, etc. and how they affect bids and company risk/profit
  • Attention to detail
  • Time management skills
  • Experience using computer programs such as Microsoft Suite, Bluebeam, and Google Earth Pro
