Description

Coastal Engineering is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to lead estimating and preconstruction activities for dredging projects throughout the East Coast.

This is a key position within a growing organization and will play an important role in identifying opportunities, developing competitive estimates, evaluating project risk, and supporting the company's continued expansion into new markets.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned marine construction professional who understands not only how to price a project, but how the work will be performed in the field.

Key Responsibilities
• Review project plans, specifications, scopes, and bid requirements
• Develop accurate estimates, take-offs, and pricing for marine construction and commercial diving projects
• Evaluate labor, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and production requirements
• Develop project approach, means and methods, and preliminary schedules
• Solicit and review pricing from subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors
• Identify project risks, exclusions, and potential cost impacts
• Participate in site visits, pre-bid meetings, and discussions with clients, engineers, and subcontractors
• Prepare and finalize competitive bids and proposals
• Work closely with Operations and Project Management to support successful project turnover
• Assist with change order pricing, cost analysis, and other estimating needs as projects progress

Requirements

Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in dredging, marine construction or a related field
  • Minimum 3 years of estimating experience
  • Strong understanding of dredging operations, equipment, production, and means and methods
  • Experience estimating dredging projects preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and contract documents
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and estimating software
  • Experience working with owners, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors
  • Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Experience with USACE, NAVFAC, USCG, DOT and other government contracts.
  • Experience with dredging and marine environmental projects.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred
