Salary Range: $140,000 - $165,000 annually

Position Overview

Roebbelen Contracting is looking for an experienced Senior Estimator to join our Preconstruction team in El Dorado Hills, CA.

This is an opportunity to play an important role in shaping projects well before construction begins. As a Senior Estimator, you'll partner with our preconstruction and operations teams, clients, design professionals, and trade partners to develop thoughtful cost strategies and help guide projects from early concept through final pricing and turnover.

Our work includes complex public and private projects throughout Northern California, with a strong presence in education, civic and public works, healthcare, and other commercial markets.

We're looking for someone who brings strong estimating fundamentals, understands how projects are built, and can look beyond the numbers to identify risk, constructability considerations, value opportunities, and smarter ways to deliver a project.

What You'll Do

• Lead and develop estimates from conceptual budgeting and design development through procurement, final pricing, and construction
• Review drawings, specifications, schematics, contracts, RFPs, RFQs, and other construction documents to understand project scope and requirements
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and develop pricing for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracted work
• Develop conceptual estimates and budgets when design information is limited
• Apply current market pricing, regional cost data, labor analysis, historical information, and project-specific conditions
• Solicit, review, analyze, and level trade partner and supplier proposals
• Identify scope gaps, project risks, constructability considerations, cost-saving opportunities, and value-engineering alternatives
• Clearly document estimate assumptions, qualifications, exclusions, and outstanding information
• Participate in preconstruction, estimating, project, design, and client meetings
• Partner with operations teams to support project turnover and maintain alignment between the estimate and execution plan
• Support pursuits, proposals, interviews, and cost-related narratives
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, design partners, trade partners, and suppliers
• Share knowledge and provide guidance to other members of the estimating and preconstruction team

What We're Looking For

A strong candidate will typically bring:

• 7+ years of commercial construction estimating, preconstruction, or closely related experience
• Experience developing estimates for large or complex commercial construction projects
• Strong understanding of construction materials, means, methods, sequencing, and constructability
• Experience with conceptual estimating, design development estimates, negotiated work, GMPs, and/or competitive bids
• Experience performing quantity takeoffs and evaluating trade partner and supplier proposals
• Ability to identify scope gaps, project risks, and value-engineering opportunities
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple estimates, deadlines, and competing priorities
• Ability to collaborate effectively with clients, design professionals, trade partners, and internal project teams
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Bluebeam, and estimating or takeoff software such as On-Screen Takeoff or comparable platforms

A bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent construction and estimating experience will also be considered.

Experience That Would Be a Plus

You don't need to check every box. We'd especially like to hear from candidates with experience in:

• Education, civic/public works, healthcare, or other complex commercial construction markets
• Design-Build, Design-Bid-Build, CM-at-Risk, or negotiated project delivery
• Northern California construction markets and trade partner relationships
• Procore, Timberline, or similar construction technology
• Prefabrication or alternative construction methods
• Proposal development and project interviews
• Mentoring or developing estimators and preconstruction team members

Work Environment

Duties are primarily performed in an office setting and may require extended periods of sitting and computer use. Occasional visits to active construction sites may be required. Appropriate personal protective equipment must be worn while visiting jobsites.
