SENIOR ESTIMATOR

Location: Burnaby, BC or Oakville, ON

THE OPPORTUNITY

Reporting to the Estimating Manager, the Senior Estimator is responsible for responding to client Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and interfacing directly with clients.

This role requires a Civil Engineer with strong analytical capabilities and the ability to interpret complex technical specifications, develop design concepts, and manage all aspects of the tendering and bid preparation process.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Generate project and business opportunities through customer contact in alignment with BAUER Canada's business plans and growth strategies
  • Analyze inquiry packages, communicate with Clients and understand their needs
  • Identify strategic selling points for each project and for each Client
  • Assess alternate methods to provide cost and time savings to Clients
  • Prepare and review technical tenders, bids, and tender documentation
  • Interpret and respond to complex technical specifications
  • Present design concepts to clients and other stakeholders
  • Mentor junior Estimators
  • Visit construction sites to obtain firsthand feedback from the Operations teams
  • Negotiate and communicate complex technical and commercial issues to a variety of audiences
  • Identify and evaluate new markets through prospecting, web research, and networking
  • Maintain and update client databases and portals
  • Attend and participate in industry events, professional groups, and networking associations
  • Promote BAUER's mission, vision, values, reputation, code of ethics, standards, policies, and procedures internally and externally


WHAT WE LOOK FOR

  • Qualified candidates will have a Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or similar.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in ground engineering or special foundations
  • Experience or qualifications in cost engineering or applications engineering are considered an asset
  • Proven experience in proposal preparation and project engineering applications with successful outcomes
  • Strong technical knowledge across a wide range of ground engineering and special foundation techniques
  • Site experience in ground engineering techniques is desirable
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines with excellent prioritization and time management
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Fluency in English required; French proficiency is an asset


SALARY RANGE

The base salary range for this position is $120,000 - $160,000 depending on experience.
