Becker & Frondorf, an independent construction cost estimating and owner's representative firm, is hiring a Senior Estimator / Assistant Department Manager to help run our Cost Estimating department to help lead and grow our estimating team.

On the technical side, you'll produce conceptual and detailed cost estimates across project types, review estimates prepared by others on the team, and represent B&F directly with clients throughout active projects.

On the management side, you will work closely the Department VP and Principal in running day-to-day operations: staffing and workload allocation across the team, mentoring estimators, and stepping in as the acting lead when Leadership is unavailable. You will also have a hand in business development in addition to client relationship maintenance and proposal support.

We are looking for someone with strong conceptual estimating experience who is ready to expand their leadership responsibilities and learn B&F's unique approach to cost estimating.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review complete conceptual, schematic, design development, and detailed construction document cost estimates.
  • Analyze drawings, narratives, and specifications to determine project scope, assumptions, and cost risks.
  • Participate in reconciliation with contractors.
  • Serve as the acting department lead when senior leadership is unavailable.
  • Support senior leadership on proposals and team development.
  • Provide guidance and technical review for estimating staff.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
  • 5-8 years of experience as a conceptual cost estimator with demonstrated expertise across all design phases.
  • Deep understanding of construction costs, building systems, and current market conditions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft and cost estimating software.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple client relationships and deadlines with professionalism and accuracy.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with Togal.AI takeoff software.
  • Experience with independent cost estimating.
  • Professional certifications (ASPE, LEED, AIA, etc.)
  • Experience as a team member of a consulting firm.

Benefits:

  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with employer match.
