This role is critical to validating system performance, reliability, and safety across demanding operational environments, including high-altitude and stratospheric conditions.

You will serve as a technical leader responsible for translating system-level requirements into robust environmental test programs, coordinating cross-functional teams, and ensuring test readiness, execution, and reporting to meet internal and external standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design, planning, and execution of environmental test campaigns, including thermal, altitude, vibration, humidity, and related testing

  • Own environmental test planning from concept through execution, analysis, and final reporting
  • Coordinate and lead test readiness reviews (TRRs) and support test execution activities
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to cross-functional teams, including systems, structures, avionics, and operations
  • Own and maintain environmental test infrastructure, including equipment specification, procurement, and vendor coordination
  • Analyze test data, document results, and present findings and recommendations to engineering leadership
  • Ensure testing aligns with applicable industry standards (e.g., MIL-STD-810 or similar) and internal quality expectations
  • Identify risks, gaps, and improvement opportunities within test programs and infrastructure

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Test Engineering, or a related technical field
  • 5+ years of experience in environmental testing, including at least 3 years leading test campaign development and execution for aerospace or complex systems
  • Demonstrated experience designing and executing environmental test programs
  • Strong understanding of environmental test standards and best practices
  • Proven ability to lead technically complex efforts and coordinate across multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience owning test equipment, facilities, or infrastructure
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and technical communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience with high-altitude or stratospheric testing environments
  • Background in lighter-than-air systems, unmanned systems, or novel aerospace platforms
  • Familiarity with FAA or other regulatory certification testing requirements
  • Experience working in startup or scale-up aerospace environments
  • Experience with test automation, data acquisition systems, and advanced instrumentation
