Your Opportunity

With growing portfolios across major sectors in the Prairies and Territories (P&T), we are seeking established Senior Environmental Professional(s) to provide technical excellence and leadership within our Prairies and Territories Site Investigation and Remediation (SIR) team. The successful candidates will leverage their technical skills to drive soil and groundwater investigation and remediation projects, regulatory strategy, and project delivery. You will support major clients across sectors such as upstream and downstream oil & gas, power and utilities, commercial real estate, government, and transportation, delivering innovative strategies for complex environmental projects.

The position location is flexible throughout Stantec's Prairies and Territories offices, with the possibility for remote work.

Your Key Responsibilities

Health and Safety
  • Promote a strong health and safety culture and actively participate in Stantec's Health and Safety Program
  • Create and lead a positive safety culture on all projects

Project Delivery
  • Serve as technical lead, providing input and detailed review of project scopes of work and cost estimates to execute contaminated site investigations (i.e., Phase II ESAs) in soil, groundwater, surface water, and soil vapor
  • Work with project teams and subcontractors to develop remedial options analysis, remedial action plans, and risk assessment / management strategies
  • Provide detailed review of scopes of work and cost estimates to execute chosen remedial and/or site management strategies and coordinate strategy with subcontractors
  • Work with Project Managers to effectively manage budget, scope, quality, and timelines on a variety of medium to large sized projects and/or client portfolios
  • May serve as Project Manager on select projects
  • Analyze and interpret project data, providing senior technical input and support to deliver reports that meet client and regulatory requirements

Client Relationships and Business Development
  • Maintain and grow long-standing client relationships
  • Support strategic account planning and contribute to growth initiatives
  • Participate in marketing and business development activities and initiatives with current and/or new clients to grow and expand Stantec's environmental services
  • Interface with other Stantec departments and promote SIR services

Leadership & Mentorship
  • Mentor and support project managers and technical staff
  • Assist with recruiting and developing talent to support SIR programs
  • Collaborate with regional leaders to assess team capabilities and resource needs

Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Strong understanding of intrusive investigation methods and remediation principles and technologies
  • Proficiency in contaminant hydrogeology, data interpretation, and conceptual site model development
  • Experience developing and executing remedial strategies including excavation programs, in-situ and ex-situ treatment, confirmatory sampling, and closure reporting
  • Strong understanding of provincial (AB, SK, MB, NT) and federal soil and groundwater remediation guidelines
  • Strong technical aptitude and technical writing ability
  • Experience in preparing high-quality technical reports and regulatory submissions
  • Demonstrated experience in upstream and/or downstream oil and gas across the P&T region is preferred
  • Demonstrated experience with Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) is considered a strong asset
  • Experience in project management of contaminated site investigation and remediation projects
  • Ability to work well and self-motivate in a collaborative team environment
  • Ability to mentor and supervise junior staff
  • Strong organizational and communications skills (able to communicate solutions in writing, verbally and graphically)
  • Ability to prioritize work and make responsible decisions that can be defended

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • Professional designation (e.g., P.Eng, P.Geo, P.Chem, P.Ag., etc.) recognized in AB, SK, MB, and/or Northwest Territories.
  • Minimum 15 years of related experience.
  • Demonstrated experience dealing with regulators.
  • Demonstrated commitment to health and safety policies and procedures.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time.

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
