LJB Canada, Inc. is currently seeking a qualified candidate to fill a full-time Senior Environmental Engineer / Senior Soil Management Specialist role on the Green Line LRT project in Calgary, AB. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience working on major infrastructure or transit projects and possess the professional and interpersonal skills to make a positive impact on our firm and the clients we serve. We are looking for a motivated professional with a forward-thinking mindset, strong analytical problem-solving skills, and a collaborative spirit.

Annual Compensation: $130,000 - 185,000 based upon experience, certifications, and regional market standards.

SENIOR ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEER / SOIL MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Review and validate soil movement submissions, analytical data, and engineering deliverables for compliance with project requirements, codes, and standards.
  • Provide senior technical guidance to project teams, ensuring constructability, safety, and environmental considerations are integrated into design decisions.
  • Act as a key interface between the client, contractors, and project delivery team.
  • Monitor soil movement progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies to maintain compliance with regulatory bodies.
  • Lead a team of junior and intermediate soil specialists to oversee project-wide soil movement and management.
  • Support procurement activities, including technical specifications, RFP responses, and contract documentation.
  • Coordinate design changes, RFIs, and technical clarifications to ensure timely resolution.
  • Assist in reviewing contractor submissions for contractual compliance, including change requests, claims, and variations.
  • Support environmental, safety, and quality management processes throughout construction.
  • Lead relationships with municipal authorities and regulatory bodies.
  • Provide engineering support during construction, including site reviews, issue resolution, and verification of contractor work.

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental or related field.
  • Professional designation in Alberta or eligibility for registration.
